GLENDALE, Calif., Nov. 5— Merie Earle, who played Maude Gormley on ''The Waltons'' television series and appeared in many feature films and TV commercials, died Sunday of uremic poisoning, according to her agent.
She was 95.
Miss Earle moved to Hollywood from Ohio in 1952 with her husband to be near their daughter, now deceased.
Miss Earle, who died at the Verdugo Hills Hospital here, was recovering from Oct. 15 surgery for cancer of the colon, said her agent, Evelyn Schultz.

Of most significance to me is that Earle didn't start her acting career until she was 67 years old !!

There's hope for us all if Merle didn't begin acting until 67. I always enjoyed her rather carefree and disorganised character on the Waltons.

Well I'm not terribly far from the age, but golly - I can't act. Maybe some other type of talent will "befall" me. I do admire both the actress and the character!
