Olivia's attitude towards the Baldwins kind of gets on my nerves-especially in the 1st season.
She talks all kinds of trash about them, but when she needs money, they are the 1st ones she sells something to.

Yeah, I know Marylou, but she was always going to them for help, but she was talking behind their backs all the time....
I would be mad , but they were not smart enough to realize it.

I'm totally with Jeri on this. Seriously, what are you talking about? Or, are you just wanting to stir the pot alittle?

I thought Livvy was pretty frosty to the ol' girls at the beginning but softened up as the years went along. They were so childlike and innocent, who could help but love them?
"The Boondoggle" is one of my new favorites because of the way we see everyone relate with Miss Mamie and Miss Emily. How sweet.

Olivia did often sell them things, I remember at least one occasion where they're raising money and she sells them a rug or something similar. But that's all I can remember and I wouldn't necessarily call that going to them for money.

Zeb sure liked the 2 old gal's and he sipped enough of that home made shine. My kin had more Still's in the kentucky back wood's then there were jar's of the recipe in The Baldwin lady's cellar. It could literally peel the paint off the wall's.
I think Ester was the one that really disliked The Baldwin lady's , as her husband spent alot of time over there doing thing's for them for a sip of the recipe in return. They were good old gal's I felt. Treasured their papa's memory and the recipe that made him famous in the hill's of Virginia.

I agree that it was the "recipe" that Olivia didn't like, and she did soften up about the 2 ladies as the years went by. One of the funniest things I remember was when they wanted to adopt Jason. Olivia walked away, got out her big Bible, turned a few pages; Jason asked what she was doing, and John said, "I think she's trying to be a Christian." Then Olivia went back to the ladies, told them that she wanted to pretend that the conversation had never happened, and just when you can see the hurt in the ladies' eyes, she asked them to Thanksgiving dinner.
I also agree that Grandma didn't like them because she was a bit jealous of the time Zeb spent with them.

He was human and loved women, but I don't think either Baldwin was his type.

The Calf- she sold them a quilt or something
also, when she had that cleaning stuff she was selling, she sold some to The Baldwins-remember? they just needed the jars so they bought some.
easter story- they got her a wheel chair out of the kindness of her heart-she goes back to trashing them a couple of episodes later.
house burns down-Jason goes to stay with them

give me awhile-and I'll think of some more....
Electricity gets turned off. Grandpa fixes their house for money. Olivia trashes them in following episodes.

The homecoming-John is late , theyy take the horse and sled to look for him, and when John boy gets back, SHE TEARS INTO HIM for being around them..
The Patricia Neal "Olivia" couldnt stand them at all..

I wouldn't compare her objection to their 'hobby' as trashing them. She liked them alright, I thought, but was definitely against their recipe habit.
