Hi everyone, Does anyone know why Earl Hamner or the writers chose the last name " Walton" Just wondering if it had any special meaning to someone, or it just sounded good. I wonder why they didn't go with "Spencer"

Hi everyone, Does anyone know why Earl Hamner or the writers chose the last name " Walton" Just wondering if it had any special meaning to someone, or it just sounded good. I wonder why they didn't go with "Spencer" The story goes that Warner Brothers would not permit the name of "Spencer" to be used on "The Homecoming" since it had been used on "Spencer’s Mountain." Fiedler Cooke, the Director of "The Homecoming" chose the name "Walton" from the signer of the Declaration of Independence, George Walton.
