I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet. I haven't made it through all the posts yet. Just skimming through and reading whatever catches my eye. When cousin Zadok visits the mtn. there is this song he plays on his fiddle. He is playing at night, sitting by Drucilla's Pond. It is such a hauntingly beautiful melody. I have never forgot it. Was it just something that was composed for the show, or an actual folk song?
Also, the song that he sings at the end, Rosen the Bow or Rosen LeBeau. On another old tv show, Here Come the Brides, some people were singing a song called Surrounded by Acres of Land. And it had the exact same melody as Rosen the Bow.

I can't find Zadock's first song in The Remembrance -- may have to hear it again.... But, here's "Old Rosin the Beau"....
I've traveled this country all over, And now to the next I will go, I know that good quarters await me, To welcome Old Rosin the Beau. To welcome Old Rosin the Beau, To welcome Old Rosin the Beau, I know that good quarters await me, To welcome Old Rosin the Beau.
When I'm dead and laid out on the counter A voice you will hear from below Saying "Send down a hogshead of whiskey To drink to Old Rosin the Beau." To drink to Old Rosin the Beau To drink to Old Rosin the Beau Saying "Send down a hogshead of whiskey To drink to Old Rosin the Beau."
When I first heard it, and because he was playing a fiddle, I thought he was talking about his instrument's bow and putting rosin on it !!!

That was a beautiful piece of fiddle music Cousin Zadok was playing late that night, but I do not know what it was. If you want something nice, there is an Asian commericial for Pantene hair shampoo about this deaf girl who plays violin. Its on YouTube and it will bring tears to your eyes.

I think someone on this board said the melody was from the song, Black Is the Color Of My True Love's Hair.

Thank you, odd I wasn't able to find the other post. However, now I have the answer, and can listen on YouTube when the mood strikes. Technology is a wonderful thing. The captivating sadness in the song I find haunting.....here is a link to an instrumental for everyone to enjoy:
Again thanks for sharing your knowledge.

It doesn't sound like the same song to me. Not that this one isn't good.
Zadok's version, I could just listen to it over and over.
