Did a little research...
Judy Norton Taylor (Mary Ellen) competed in Battle of the Network Stars in November of 1979, December of '80, and May of '81. In '79, she competed against my favorite 70's star, Kristy McNichol.
For all you Little House fans, Melissa Gilbert also competed a couple of years. You can find this information at Wikipedia.

I liked the competitions between TV personalities---I believe in one of them Susan Richardson of Eight is Enough soundly defeated Ronnie Howard in a swimming race on The Celebrity Battle of the Sexes.

I also believe Mary Elizabeth Mc Donough participated in either the Celebrity Battle of The Sexes or the Celebrity Battle of the Network Stars.

To kelzx2. Well guess what. I wondered why you had a picture of Kristy McNicol beside your post. I used to have the biggest crush on her in the 70's. I thought there was nothing cuter than her and was in love with her, I thought.

And I remember her on Apples Way . This was a show that Earl Hamner created as well but it later deviated from the Waltons format and by the spring of 1975 it had lost every quality. So there were few around to say'goodbye ' to it when it went off the air.

Well, hello, fellow Hoosier! I've been to Columbus many times. It's a pretty nice city if you don't get lost on all those one way streets! Do you ever get to Bloomington?

Was the name of the show that Kristy Mcnichol played on at one time called Family? My memory is so bad.

Hi, Chris--did anyone ever answer your question? Yes, Kristy played the youngest child on Family.

Judy told the story Saturday at Granbury about being on the Battle of the Network Stars. She told of how she badly sprained her ankle in one of the races. She said she was lying on the ground in agony with Howard Kosell trying to ask her questions. She said Tom Selleck was their team captain and he told Howard to leave her alone that couldn't he see she was in terrible pain. She said she was hurting so bad she did not realize until later that Tom Selleck had picked her up and carried her off the field! We should all be so lucky!

Yes, I remember "The Battle of the Network Stars" quite well. I have such fond memories of '70s and '80s TV.

Hello Kelzx2,
I know it has been a while but I saw your post and no I don't get to Bloomington very often and I know what you mean about Columbus and the one way streets. We have lived here almost two years and I am finally starting to learn my way around. We are practically neighbors. I accually live a little southeast of Columbus near Walsboro. In the area that use to be called mineral springs. Never know, we might run into each other some time.
