;D
I was calling my son, who was in the yard to come in for dinner, except I said dinna instead. When I had realized what had been done I giggled to myself.

At first I was not certain what you meant but from this I can tell that this is how the Waltons pronounced the word dinner???!!!

I usually say dinner but found myself saying it like Olivia. Suppa does have more of a ring to it.

Olivia was the only one with that accent, which was odd to me.

In the first several episodes of the first season they all seem to have a Virginia accent. Over time most of them lost it.

I noticed Jason had a strong accent, but I didn't catch it in any of the others, so it must have been real suttle.

John Boy had a noticeable Southern accent in the early seasons. He often used the phrase "I reckon" in the earlier episodes. "I reckon", at least in the Depression era, was an often used phrase in the South.

Ben had a good VA accent the first season, and occasionally would come out every now and then. John Boy would get quite southern on occasion. I read somewhere that Richard Thomas picked up the accent when he would visit his paternal grandparents in Paintsville, Kentucky. I don't think Jim Bob and Elizabeth had one, or Mary Ellen. I think Erin had a slight accent. Olivia has a great accent. I don't think John ever did though.
I grew up in Maryland and the words "reckon" and "a hankerin' for" were constantly used. When I watch these shows it reminds me a lot of when I was a small kid, the phrases and all. The English language has like, you know, totally changed, okay, like a lot, you know, since, like, when I was like totally a kid, like okay.
