Anybody notice how the writers seemed to be developing a romance between Hank and Erin but dropped it rather abruptlyl I wonder why that was?

I always thought of him as Reverend Buchanan, never Hank.

Remember in The Celebration party Marcia Woolery came with Hank to the event. Corabeth fainted for the first time and then she would do so again when she learned about the defect in the refrigerators.

River, you failed to hit all the keys. The Children's Carol was initially shown December 15,1977 not December 5/
There was something wrong with the Forum at the end of January as a result I was not able to get on line to the Forum for several days. Glad it is fixed now

In the episode about the Walton family's emergence from debt, Erin declares that she has always known that Rev. Buchanan will end up with her. Apparently, the writers dropped that idea. Perhaps, they realized that having her marry or commit to someone so soon would reduce future story options.

Yes with both Mary Ellen and Erin married the episodes would revolve around their families not the Waltons itself.

and perhaps why they got rid of GW as well. He may have been planning to get married in real life.to someone who was not in the entertainment industry.

No they killed GW so that they could write one of the best scenes in television bar none, otherwise GW could have faded out of view like the lame brain Chad (or whatever John Walton called him).
