I'm new here, so I'm sort of feeling my way. Be kind, if I screw up. I've been online for 30 years and in a LOT of forums, but they're ALL different. If you read my "Welcome" you know I really love the Waltons. But there's been something bothering me since I first started watching (or RE-watching) all the episodes. There's a DOOR in the front entrance area. If you were facing said door the FRONT door would be to your LEFT and the first set of stairs going up to the landing would be on your RIGHT. There is ONE episode (I'd have to look up which one) where Grandma is coming OUT of that door (or at least is closing it). I thought it might be a closet, but it never appears to be used as such, and coats and hats seem to be kept on that hall rack next to the front door. Anyone know anything about this. It really bugs me.

Hi docplum. Welcome to the Forum.
The door that you speak of leads to Grandma and Grandpa's bedroom. There is another Thread that makes mention of this door. You may find the Thread called "I got a question about the waltons house?" which is located on page 2 of the General Board section.

In The Theft Grandma came out of the door into the front room and got all over Jason and Jim Bob for playing cards in the house. And in the Quilting Grandma and Olivia are talking in the bed room and the door leads to a closet. Also in the Caretakers Grandpa opens the door and pulls out a suitcase. I think that a door to the bedroom there would be better idea then going up the steps and then back down when you get in the room.

I find it hard to believe that door is to Grandma and Grandpa's bedroom. They were ALWAYS going in and out of the door on the landing, and why go up and down stairs if there's a door on the first floor??? Yes, it would have been a good idea, but I sincerely doubt that's what it was. A closet, maybe. I'll check out the other discussion.

It's really just another door into the bedroom. Odd, but it's there.

I think it was meant to look like a door to a closet But also was used to get the camera equipment in and out of the bed room with out having to carry them up and down the stairs.
