Just a few questions. How much land did The Waltons own? How did they cut trees off the mt. if they did not own it? Could they make a living off of wood products(firewood, furniture, etc) if they only owned a few acres? Has anyone ever outlined the house, barn, mill, pond, etc where everything was in relation to each other. How far was Ike's store, the baldwins, Rockfish, Martha Corrine's place and where was it at. How about Cousin Zadok's place. The School. thanks

Matt Walton (brother of Zeb) sold his share of the mountain to Zeb, including John-Boy's Meadow
Well John Boy's meadow is ten acres which Mr. Shelby from Insterstate Land Company offers to buy John-Boy’s ten acres for four dollars an acre.

It's hard to say how much land they owned. In the dust bowl cousins John told Ham they had about 12 acres which would be about right for the House and barn. It was also said they owned the mountain. I don't think they had to own the land they were logging back then as long as no one else owned it. As to where everything is don't think anyone has every made a map of the area but one would be great to have.

Even Grandma and Grandpa walked to the store, so it couldn't have been far!

It would be nice to have a layout of "Little House" also. Just like timelines, it will not always make sense, but it is fun trying to fit the peices together.

The school was probably very close to where the Waltons lived and the store was probably just a short distance. However it seemed that the Baldwins lived a little further down the road .It may have been that Verdie, Harley and Joss lived on the other side of town maybe a mile or two from the Baldwins.

I always thought the Walton's lived quite aways from town, but close to Ike's. I was watching the episode where another lady is going to play the church organ and grandma gets real upset about it. Grandpa goes to town, (walks) and Grandma catches him sitting on the boarding house porch with that woman. Then it shows both Grandma and Grandpa walking back home. Same with Livy when she got that perm and was walking by the boarding house and Flossie Bremer is sitting on her porch, half gassed, (LOL!) and Livy sits with her for a bit. She's on foot, but then John pulls up in the truck. What town was that?

What I though was funny is they would come down difference roads when going to Ike's store. If you were standing on the porch at Ike's store their was 3 roads one to the left one to the right and one center and slightly to the left. At the beginning they would come down the center road. But when Jim Bob ran away he came from the right and went out the road to the left. Their were times the kids were walking to school and would come from the left and go down the road to the right. I guess all roads went to the waltons house. ;D

Will be Ike tell people, how to get to Walton's house. Oh, you take any road you like, just leads you, straight to the Waltons. @bathepug I was thinking of the same questions, of what you post. Got me wondering, as well.
