On rewatching this episode, I loved the overhead shot of the quilt the ladies were working on. This remains one of my favourite episodes. Does anyone know what happened to the actual quilt?

Mary Ellen got it when she got married.

Yes, Grandma brought it out to show it to David’s mother at the Engagement Party, but I assume Bucky was referring to the actual quilt in real life. Where did it end up? I don’t have an answer to that, and I had never really thought about it, but it’s possible that it belonged to the props department and was reused. I remember in “The Easter Story” when the ladies made a signature quilt for Olivia, that quilt can be seen in other episodes. I remember seeing it on one of the boys’ beds, I’m thinking JimBob’s. In a close up scene, you can see “Courage from Alma” on the quilt. It might be a good idea to notice if Mary Ellen’s quilt showed up again in other episodes.

Didn't it show up in the second Martha Corinne appearance or was it just mentioned?
Edited to add: I think Martha Corinne gave Mary Ellen another quilt she had made herself in that episode. And gave Olivia a crocheted bed-spread.

Yes, I was referring to the actual quilt. I hoped it had been preserved in the Walton's museum - there is one, isn't there?

I have been there several times, and no, the quilt is not there. The only prop from the show that I can think of right now is the pony cart. Judy Norton has said that the actors didn’t get to keep any of the props, so she probably doesn’t know what happened to the quilt either.

The radio from the tv series was at the museum for awhile. It was on loan from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. I think it has been returned to the Smithsonian.

I agree but I think Grandma was out of line too. She shouldn't have forced something on Mary Ellen that she didn't want.

In an earlier discussion on this board, I questioned why Grandma would approve of a "pagan fertility rite" (i.e., The Quilting) and got some grief about that!
