I mentioned in my introductory thread that I've never seen this show, just snippets of an episode once or twice. So I'm in it on Amazon this month. I watched The Waiting (season 8, episode 9) today, specifically when John and Olivia went to see John-Boy in the hospital for the first time.
I know I'm terrible for finding this episode funny but I can't help it. I hate when series replace actors so maybe the humor is my way of dealing with the annoyance. Also disclaimer: I've had multiple brain injuries. I am not making light of those. The thought of having yet another is terrifying. It's just... the jokes write themselves!
A couple pieces of dialogue and my thoughts:
Doctor: "You should be prepared for what you'll see." No kidding; he got a couple inches taller and a whole new face.
Olivia: "Will he know us?" Doc: "No; no, he....doesn't know himself." Neither does the audience.
Serena: praying for JB Elizabeth: "You hardly even know John-Boy." Does anyone? Serana: "I've seen his picture a lot." I don't even have a clever response for that.
JimBob: "Why didn't somebody let us know?" John: "It took 'em a long time to identify him..." And they still didn't get the right guy.
I'm going to the bad place.

all the scene's where john boy has a emotional meltdown. like in " type writer" and the one where he and mary ellen fight over the shed.

You missed one. At the beginning of the episode, Corabeth looks at Ike's newspaper when he announces that John-Boy had been found. She says: "Is that a new photo? He looks different."

The Waiting. There was an earlier funny comment but I forget on which episode, where Corabeth is looking at John-boys photo after returning from overseas. Perhaps someone here can fill in the remark I am thinking of.
