Why John Boy education was sooooo important but not a peep was made regarding Jason or Mary Ellen. In those days the families concentrated on the oldest child. The oldest was expected to help the next child. And down the line they went.

That would be fine except I don't remember John Boy helping any of his younger siblings like that.

I don’t understand how Mary Ellen or John Boy used such abusive tones with their parents. It really broke my heart when John Boy yelled at his father. Really broke my heart. I was happy when Wightman took over the part and showed more respect. He may not have been the “people’s” choice for the part but he did bring back the respect that parents should have been shown.

I didn't understand how Jim Bob could be missing from two episodes and nobody acknowledged it. His absence occurred in Season 2 -- Episodes 1, The Journey, and in Episode 12 The Substitute. Not a word about his whereabouts.

Do the Waltons own the whole mountain or just "John-Boy's meadow"? The episodes flop back and forth. "The Empty Nest" says that they could sell the mountain if need be (but they don't want to do that). One other earlier episode also takes that stance, but most seem to imply they own very little of it (otherwise it could have helped them out of many earlier financial perils, not to say all these developers who appear). They must own the site of the earlier house (the Realistic Fireplace™ one), for instance. If they own the whole mountain, do the other residents pay them ground rent? If they don't, how are they able to cut down trees (and take game) on land belonging to others?

In The Easter Story John Boy is writing in his journal that it is less than a week until Easter and mama hasn't gotten any better yet on Easter morning she is standing with the congregation at Easter sunrise service. Are we supposed to believe that in a few days Olivia completely recovered and was able to stand for the church service. I know Easter is a season of miracles but come on....

Going by this conversation in The Homecoming I don't think they did and I think Will Geer also said it an a later episode. John-Boy: Grandpa, do we got something to show we own Walton's Mountain? Grandpa: You can't own a mountain any more than you can own an ocean or a piece of the sky. You hold it in trust. You live on it, you take life from it, and once you're dead, you rest in it. John-Boy: I'd just as soon not think about that part. Grandpa: You're not ready for it yet. John-Boy: Are you? Grandpa: Never!
