I’m pleased viewers could pick out Vincent Price as the father in Carol Burnett’s spoof of the Waltons. But I didn’t see if people recognized comedienne Joan Rivers, in a dark brown wig playing the mother. It was a strangely shot scene and she was easy to miss.
There is a “Kevin Bacon” connection from Carol Burnett to The Waltons. My brother use to be a puppeteer for the incredibly talented Tony Urbano when Tony had an elaborate marionette show for tourists who went on the Universal Tours. I also worked for Tony as a part-time assistant. Tony wanted to make a copy of Carol’s famous charwomen (maid) character and add her to his show which played 3-5 times a day after visitors got off the tram. My parents knew Carol Burnett through friends and the “party circle” among some of Carol’s friends. They saw her many times at Hollywood get-togethers.
My brother got her personal phone number and he reached out to make the request and reminded her she knew his parents. I think it helped that Carol felt a bit guilty for having spilled half her cocktail on my Dad’s coat one night as they mingled at a party. She said yes and Tony went to meet with her and get photos, measurements and Carol’s input for his creation.
Tony was “pre Jim Henson” but was considered a very talented craftsman at the time. But, I don’t think he counted on Carol’s request for a replica for her own personal collection. It was twice the cost, twice the work and perhaps more than twice the time to finish 2 of Carol’s treasured character’s puppet. But, I think all the Universal visitors felt it was well worth the effort!

There is a “Kevin Bacon” connection from Carol Burnett to The Waltons. I recognised Joan although, back then, her voice wasn't as sharp and biting as it usually was. Too bad her part was so small.
And 'Ah, yes'. Six Degrees of Separation from Kevin Bacon. Back when the game was really rolling, just after the internet got its start, a website popped up with that title and allowed people to form their own connections to Kevin. The only famous person I had met personally was Bob Ralston (Lawrence Welk Show) and I couldn't connect him to anyone else even remotely connected to Kevin Bacon.

I wondered where the six degrees thing originated. Did it start with this film and scene?

^ It is difficult to say. The movie above came out in 1993 which was based upon a play from 1990, which, in turn, had been based upon a short story written in 1929.
In 1994, Kevin Bacon had mentioned in an interview that he had worked with everyone in Hollywood. Some college students, having watched 2 Kevin Bacon movies back-to-back, came up with the game to connect Kevin to everyone in Hollywood within 6 connections.
Was it inspired by the movie or by Kevin's interview comment? Who knows?

It seems like everyone is connected to Kevin Bacon in some way. Heck I am probably connected in some way.

I think I mentioned this some weeks back. The search process has been automated! The Oracle of BaconYou can, in fact, use it to connect anybody to anybody else.

It seems like everyone is connected to Kevin Bacon in some way. Heck I am probably connected in some way. This isn't a connection to Kevin Bacon. But it is about connections from the Waltons to some other older shows that have been talked about in the last week or so. I thought some of the newer members might find it interesting if they had not heard it already. Larry Linville from M*A*S*H was married to one of Will Geer's daughters and Ed Flanders from St. Elsewhere was married to the other one.

I saw this one the other day and got a good laugh. Tim Conway's barking is hilarious...

Vincent Price had such a wonderful speaking voice. Vincent made 'Thriller' thrilling. Even his laugh at the end is scary. No wonder he was so popular in horror films.
This is what I thought of when I read his name

Carol Burnett is going to be 90 at the end of this month. Carol Burnett talking about her start in college to Broadway to Television to The Carol Burnett Show to her ear tug to the finale. No interview. Just Carol telling it like it was:

This is a funny parody skit the Carol Burnett Show did about the Waltons. Happy 90th birthday, dear funny lady Carol Burnett
