Most of the original cast has mentioned that another reunion movie is highly unlikely. Earl tried to do it when he was living, and a script had been written. But no network expressed interest. There was some talk that the original cast other than Richard Thomas would be part of the new movies. So far, that has not happened. The sad thing is these networks only want to put crap reality show stuff and other horrible programming. I can understand that Richard Thomas doesn't want to do it because he is really busy with other stuff. Maybe they could get Robert Wightman instead. It is a shame because I think the fans of the show and I know it isn't a lot, but just on this forum there is me and 3 other teens who would love seeing something like this on TV. I'd much rather see the Waltons family on TV than the Kardashian family any day. I agree 110% with that statement Emmy

Me, too, but with the passing of time since the original show ended, it’s probably not considered ratings’ generating. That’s all the networks care about

Have you ever seen Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman? That ran from 1993-1998. It's on somecable channels and on DVD. It takes place in the same time frame as Little House On The Prairie.

I like the idea of a show where we have young Grandma and Grandpa raising John and his brother Ben. One or two episodes mentioned that John and Olivia knew each other as kids so we could also meet Olivia's family. We could see the Baldwin sisters as younger ladies and their Papa. We could still have Godsey's store but have Ike's father running a smaller version of it.
Richard Thomas could narrate as John Boy telling his parents story.

I would love the original cast to get together to spark the magic that brought so many wonderful memories from the original series. The good thing is those memories will always be there at a click of a remote control button for all of us to watch because of all these streaming services and cable stations that carry classic television programming.
I think for the surviving cast and fans, the reunions are what sparks that for many who are lucky enough to attend them. We are also very lucky to face a very open original cast in Kami answering many questions on her Facebook page and what Judy does with her podcasts. This keeps the Waltons alive and fresh for all.
For someone who has unfortunately never been able to attend a reunion, but has seen videos of them the cast are very open with the fans. They seem to be very approachable and happy to be a part of the festivities.
It would be great to have another series with the surviving cast, but a lot more like great writers and someone to back and produce it would have to be onboard. All that costs a lot of money and to be completely honest with the shows that are on television today, I don't have much faith in the writers to write something of the quality of the original Waltons series.

If you can find it, another show set in the time frame as the Waltons is Wind At My Back. It's set during the Depression in New Bedford, Ontario, Canada. It's about a family where they lose their hardware store because of the economy. They are forced to ask the father's wealthy mother for help (she owns a silver mine). Then the father in the family dies from an allergic reaction to being stung by a bunch of bees at one time. The grandmother never approved of her daughter in law and she takes her children from her because she doesn't have a job to take care of them. The mother eventually gets her children back but the grandmother is making it hard for her by threatening other people if they help her. About the only person in town that did help her was her 2 sons' teacher who gave them a place to stay with him. She ends up marrying the teacher because it didn't look right for them to be living with him otherwise. I think you can stream it on a streaming service called Gazebo TV. You can also stream the Anne of Green Gables movies from Sullivan productions. Also the Road to Avonlea series which is set in the early 1900's. Like pre WW1. I used to watch it on a channel/network called BYU. It was a television station out of Brigham Young University. I don't get that channel now and I don't know if they still carry the show.

There are a few shows that have reached the screens recently. One that comes to mind is also about the stories of Anne of Green Gables and was called Anne With An E. It was aired on one of the streaming channels, but was dropped only after 3 seasons I believe.

Anne With An E is on Netflix and it's true it was only produced for 3 seasons. I don't care for it that much. The Anne of Green Gables mini-series/movies that were produced by Kevin Sullivan in 1985 and 1987 are the gold standard for me.
