I know they have been trying these remake movies with an entirely new cast of the original characters. I don't know how you all feel about those two remakes, but they just don't seem to have the same feel as the original series to me.
My idea would be and this is just an idea that would first have to be agreed by many actors, especially Richard Thomas and Michael Learned to agree to be a part of a project like this. Also the other Walton kids would have to be involved as well and really a major part as well as Cindy, Aimee Godsey, Jonesy, Drew, and the other actors and actresses that played husbands and wives to the Walton kids. The show would be based around those characters and their children all going back to Waltons Mountain or surrounding counties and living their lives together. It could be set in whatever time period that works with the ages of the Walton Family. I know this is a real long shot and something that both Richard Thomas and Michael Learned would probably not do, but I think if it is written well and back by the right people it could fly.

Sadly, so much of the original cast is not with us anymore. There would be so much emptiness in the show. Also sadly, I don't think writers can write what you want the way you want it anymore. The new remake movies are disappointing enough.

I understand it would be really hard without Ralph Waite, Will Geer, Ellen Corby, Joe Conly, Ronnie Claire Edwards, Mary Jackson, and Helen Kleeb. The show would have to revolve around the Walton kids and John Boy and even Michael Learned and their children whoever they would get to be actors and actresses for them. Of course there would be the husbands and wives like Cindy, Jonesy, Morgan Stevens(Erin's Husband), Janet Gilcrest, and Drew Cutler and the children they have. Plus Aimee Godsey and her family could be involved. You are correct that writers would have to be pretty special to be able to write something quality enough.

It might have been interesting if they had done a series showing John and Ben growing up as boys, John meeting Olivia and being sent off to war.
I've always wondered what the grands, parents and Baldwin Sisters were like as young people.

Oh - I agree with Emmy that it would be great to continue the type of television series like “The Waltons” but reflecting the reality of a later time period than The Great Depression. But, Easton also brings up a very good point that most of the actors that MADE the show so special are no longer alive. Someone mentioned Morgan Stevens as a potential cast member who could join any revamped show. Sadly, Morgan died in January 2022, age 70, from heart disease. Lots of wonderful actors are taken much too soon, for sure!

If and that is huge IF something like this would come to be it would have to fall on mostly on The Walton kids(including Richard Thomas) as the main actors and Michael Learned and I don't know how much she would be willing to do. Actors like Leslie Winston, Kate McNeil, Tony Becker, and Rachel Longaker would also have to be a part of it as well. The children of the Waltons kids and Aimee Godsey's Kids could be played by any actors or actresses. The show would obviously be missing The Baldwin Sisters so maybe introducing some sort of relative of theirs. Characters such as the one your mom played in Flossie Brimmer could do the same thing. It would have been easy to do that with Patsy Brimmer, but sadly Eileen McDonough passed away way too early. I know this will never come to be, but with all the crap that is on TV today having a wholesome show would be great.

The original Patsy Brimmer, Debbie Gunn, is alive and well. Eileen McDonough was a temporary replacement in two episodes when Debbie was unavailable.😊

There would have to be some sort of connection with Flossie. I imagine the actor who played Ep Bridges and Yancy Tucker have passed away. Yancy's wife played by Cissy Wellman is still alive. Also the actress that played Verdi(Lynn Hamilton) is still alive. I imagine she is retired from all acting at the age of 92 though. Her husband in the show Harley played by Hal Williams is also still alive. Miss Rosemary Hunter Fortwick(Mariclare Costello) is also with us, but of course Reverend Matthew Fortwick(John Ritter) has passed away. There are actually quite a few of the older cast that are still with us which is so awesome.

Most of the original cast has mentioned that another reunion movie is highly unlikely. Earl tried to do it when he was living, and a script had been written. But no network expressed interest. There was some talk that the original cast other than Richard Thomas would be part of the new movies. So far, that has not happened.

The sad thing is these networks only want to put crap reality show stuff and other horrible programming. I can understand that Richard Thomas doesn't want to do it because he is really busy with other stuff. Maybe they could get Robert Wightman instead. It is a shame because I think the fans of the show and I know it isn't a lot, but just on this forum there is me and 3 other teens who would love seeing something like this on TV. I'd much rather see the Waltons family on TV than the Kardashian family any day.
