What was he thinking?
Ben had that baby face look to him and the lip fuzz just looked plain ridiculous on him. Did he do it just to look more like a man? I think with the way he was working in the Mill and how he was married and a new daddy that would have been enough, but maybe he wanted more manliness.
Is there anything else you all think Ben was searching for when he tried the mustache for the short time?

The thing that bothered me most, I think, was the fact that Ben had never shown any sign of facial hair in the series before that and, since his hair was so red, there would not have been any sign of shadow or stubble. It would take a long time to grow that moustache, so it should not have been a surprise to John to see him with it.
It showed up in the Season 7 opener, 'The Empty Nest', so I suspect that Eric Scott showed up on the first day after hiatus after growing it during his time off and Eric told the producers that he was going to shave it off. I also suspect that the producers told him, "That's fine, Eric, but let's have some fun with it first."
It wasn't Ben, but I suppose I would have got used to it if Eric decided to keep it.

It definitely wasn't Ben and he definitely had a baby face . All the Walton boys had Baby faces, but Ben with the really red hair was the biggest baby face of them all. I am glad it didn't last very long. I do remember Jason having a mustache in some of the reunion movies, but I think that was just the way Jon Walmsley was having his look at the time. I also think Richard Thomas had a mustache and a beard at one time when he was older. I am not sure if that was on any of the reunion movies or not.
