i was watching Bewitched today. Isn't that the Baldwin house behind Samantha? It does look like it. It also looks like someone is admiring the house.

It's the Baldwin house, right down to the dormers and columns and hedgerows and mullions.

It's the Baldwin house, right down to the dormers and columns and hedgerows and mullions. And the Recipe Still inside so anyone passing by could still go in to sample the Recipe. I think that is what that person in the background is thinking about doing.

Wait a minute...now I know how Curt came back. Samantha twitched him back into existence. 😲

Ha - good eye! The Waltons filmed at The Burbank Studios, as did Bewitched (when it was called the Columbia Ranch). You’d occasionally see The Waltons use “Brownstone Street” that Bewitched also used. And I think I saw the iconic fountain (later used for the Friends opening credits) on The Waltons. I know I saw it on Bewitched at least once.
All of those structures including the ones used for the exteriors on Bewitched, Jeannie, Donna Reed, Gidget and others were still standing as of last year. But they announced last year that they’d all be leveled as part of a studio remodel. Sad to lose such a piece of TV history.

I thought I read on this message board that the Gilmore Girls house was a redressed version of the Walton House.

^ It was just a façade, but it wasn't the one which was used for The Waltons. That burnt down in 1991 and was rebuilt.

I bet they could get a lot of money in an auction for that fountain used in the Friends opening theme song credits.

That's not the first time that the old was destroyed to make way for the new.
A bit of 'Gone With the Wind' trivia. If you've seen the movie, you must remember the 'burning of Atlanta' scene. It wasn't really Atlanta burning, but it was old sets from Selznick International Pictures. Director Victor Flemming knew about the Atlanta scene and convinced the studio not to just tear down the sets but to burn them down and use the footage in the movie.
There is a scene in the escape in which Rhett Butler jumps out of the wagon to lead the frightened horse though the flames. At the end of the short video below, there is a wide shot of Rhett guiding the horse and wagon past a large wall of flames which collapses. This scene was filmed even before production began. Stand-ins took the places of Rhett and Scarlett and that scene was filmed as the old sets burned.
The wall falling down? That was the gigantic, full-sized wall from the 1933 version of King Kong.

Yes, the "Baldwin house" was used numerous times on BEWITCHED, beginning in the pilot episode as Sheila's house (Darrin's former girlfriend). When I visited the Warner Brothers Ranch in 2004 as part of THE WALTONS reunion that year, we visited the rebuilt Walton house and just down the road was the "Baldwin house" and the BEWITCHED house along with I DREAM OF JEANNIE house, etc. It is indeed sad that these iconic house facades are being leveled in the name of "progress." Too bad we can't just twitch our noses and make it "not so."
