will check it out along with "Walnut Grovecast" Hey Everyone! The first episode of “The Waltons Podcast”, hosted by my friend Mark, was released today! In this first episode Mark covers the first episode of the series, “The Foundling”! I personally quite enjoyed it and look forward to his thoughts on the rest of the series! You can find the first episode on Apple Podcasts: search “The Waltons Podcast” and look for the one with the host or artist named as Mark Jeacoma! Let me know your thoughts!

Hey Everyone! The second episode of “The Waltons” podcast is now out! Even though Mark said he was going to cover the show chronologically at first he has changed his mind and so the episode covered this time is “The Scholar”. This is an episode that I was a guest on which was recorded almost two weeks ago. I hope you guys enjoy it and let me know what you think! thewaltonspodcast.com/the-scholar/

^^^ I don't recall anything being amiss when I was listening to it. I also don't recall the exact context of the conversation. But race was part of the storyline. That was evident when Verdie is angry at JB and she talks about "your kind." It was Virginia in the 1930s so it would be dishonest to not acknowledge that race was an issue. In reality, Schuyler was a segregated town.

Mark still has a LOT to learn about the Waltons. Mrs. Grant's name is VERDIE with a V not GURDIE with a G. Yikes!!! That was irritating!!!!! I agree. I've tried watching them and haven't been able to get beyond a few minutes. (It was almost 7 minuted into 'The Scholar' before they even started talking about the episode.) I haven't listened to many podcasts, but it was always my impression that podcasters usually know what they're talking about... or at least have a few crib sheets handy.

In case anyone is interested, the fourth episode of my friend Mark’s “The Waltons” podcast is now available to listen too! In this episode he and his guest host Suzann Holland discuss Season 3, Episode 7: “The System”. thewaltonspodcast.com/the-system/I know most who have commented on this thread have been unimpressed with the podcast so far but I’m hoping it’ll find some listeners here.

I hope you guys enjoy it and let me know what you think! thewaltonspodcast.com/the-scholar/I listened to this episode podcast too and notice the same glaring error (Gerdie) spoken by the host all the way through, that Patricia noticed. To improve his credibility with Walton fans, perhaps he would consider redoing this podcast episode without this flaw. Something that caught my attention at around 48:57, the host talks about the thermometer used to take Erin's temperature probably having mercury in it, back in those days. I had to laugh as this dates the host as very young. (as if he were talking about the horse & buggy era). Mercury fever thermometers have been in use up through 2000s. The first 13 US states only began banning their sale between 2001 to 2004. Most of us grew up using mercury thermometers to measure body temperature. I still have one in my medicine supplies and use it when checking for fever. In my high school and grad student years in biology (1980s) and working in various chemistry & medical labs (1990s), glass mercury thermometers were a standard piece of equipment. The NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology, a US federal agency) only stopped calibrating mercury based thermometers in 2011.

Mark told me himself that he doesn’t edit his episodes as I suggested he edit out a comment I made regarding the issue of race and Verdie’s speech to John Boy when she thinks he’s betrayed her. Mark was unhappy I brought up the race topic during the episode as he’s trying to keep politics out of the podcast.
