Tonight while watching The Attack I couldn't help but think of a very good friend who I lost a couple of weeks ago to a massive heart attack. I had known him since we were 18-19 and he was still one of the fittest people I know except for a heart murmur he kept secret from everyone outside of his family. I'll never be able to count the miles we ran together through the years but that heart murmur, eventual surgery and not being to live the life he had because of the heavy medication was his demise. He was just like Ike Godsey he did it his way refusing to give up the life he had lived even if it meant he was taking a chance. I watched this episode agreeing with Ike that this was his life and then thought of my friend go out on your own terms with no regrets.

It’s good that your friend’s family allowed him to live his last days as he chose. As you said, go with no regrets. Sorry that you lost a good friend. Treasure the memories.

runhard, I am sorry to hear about your loss. I know it is so painful to lose a lifelong friend. But someone once told me when we lose people we have known for so long, we are luckier than most - because we have a lifetime of memories to ease the sadness and we can relive all those wonderful times with them instead of focusing on their absence. But, I still know how much it can hurt.
