Anyone else ever notice it seemed like the Walton Lumber Company was always loading the truck with what looked like the same stack of fence posts? I'm sure that it would've cost the production team not only time and money to have many different sizes of wood but it seemed like those same fence posts were their specialty. Also, almost all of the men in the show at one time actually were around that open saw cutting actual pieces of wood or using a wood router to shape wood which in today's TV or film probably would never happen due to safety and insurance. They had to have been instructed because all of them actually looked like they knew what they were doing when it came to cutting wood but it was also proof of a different time when restrictions on actors were somewhat more loose

I have noticed fence posts and what could be the board part(s) for a fence. Maybe some clapboard type thing, but that it. It would make sense to reuse things.
It does seem that Grandpa, John and Ben use the saw(s) the most and appear to know what they are doing. I am assume because it is all done on private land and its not a real mill there was a lot more flexibility.
It was still legal to ride in the open back of a pickup in California when the show as being filmed like the kids used to do (with Grandpa at times). I loved riding in the back of a pickup. Was it legal on the freeway? I don't remember.

My dad had a pickup truck when I was growing up, and we used to ride in the back of it. I thought it was fun as long as we stayed on the country roads, but I didn’t like going into town riding in the back of that truck. What if I saw someone I knew! 😱
