AR 15 - what a magnificent tribute to John Boy! I now see I must watch all the amazing shows that I didn’t see after my Mom died. But, I am confused - Richard Thomas left, new John Boy was cast to fill in: but it looked from the clothes, hair color and age of the parents, did Richard Thomas come BACK to play John Boy at some point? Or did he get married in the subsequent movies? I will have to get my timeline straight!
But, OUTSTANDING job, AR15! Your effort to put it all together is truly a labor of love - thought the music was great too. Not maudlin or too loud or annoying - just great! I know Earl would be so pleased!

Or did he get married in the subsequent movies? I will have to get my timeline straight! Richard left at the end of Season 5 and returned at the end of Season 6 for 3 episodes immediately before Ellen Corby returned in the final episode of the season. Will Geer passed away between Seasons 6 and 7. Olivia received Flossie's ring in the first episode of Season 7.
Michael left after contracting TB in episode 15. Michael returned in the first episode of Season 8 (The Home Front) in which John-Boy is reported to being Missing In Action at the end of the 2-hour episode
John and Olivia learn that John-Boy has been found, but badly injured. They go to the hospital in The Waiting (Episode 9) where John-Boy (first appearance of Robert Wightman) is in a coma. Olivia joins the Red Cross to be close to John-Boy, but Michael leaves the show again after John-Boy recovers and goes home.
In Episode 7 (The Move) of Season 9, Olivia suffers a relapse and has to move to Arizona for the climate and recovery and John announces that he is driving Olivia there. Michael doesn't appear in the episode and this is the final appearance of Ralph Waite.
At least until the reunion movies.

Your effort to put it all together is truly a labor of love - thought the music was great too. Not maudlin or too loud or annoying - just great! I know Earl would be so pleased! Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words I'm especially pleased to hear that I've inspired you to watch some of the later Waltons episodes! I know some people think the show should have ended sooner than it did, but even in Season 9, I think there are some absolutely fantastic Waltons episodes, and I also have quite a soft spot for Season 7, in part because Ellen Corby is back as Esther in most (though not all) of the episodes. I'm also glad you like the music - it's by a band called Anathema who do really beautiful, emotional pieces of music, I definitely recommend their work. As Easton said, Richard Thomas did return to the role of John-Boy for the 1990s reunion movies, with Robert Wightman playing him in Season 8, 9, and one of the three 80s movies. The fade to black of him sitting at the table is the last you ever see of Robert Wightman's version of the character, as that's the final moment of A Day of Thanks for Walton's Mountain, which was Robert Wightman's final appearance on The Waltons. For reference, almost all the clips in this video are shown in chronological order, with only a couple of exceptions. The first is showing clips from the original Homecoming alongside the 2021 Homecoming, just to try and make parallels between them (even though they're obviously the two farthest apart Waltons productions), and the second is showing clips of the episode The Furlough (with John-Boy in the wreckage of the Katey Anne) before clips of The Waiting (with John-Boy in a coma) even though The Waiting aired first - the reason being that I wanted to show the story of John-Boy's life to some extent, and we only see the crash of the Katey Anne via flashbacks after John-Boy has already recovered.

Thank you to Easton and the VERY thorough timeline of John Boy’s portrayers! Please tell me that you did research that info and it is not seared into your memory? Plus, AR15 is so right - my interest in viewing the later episodes has surely grown, although it will be bittersweet to not see “Flossie” in any scenes. But, I think I mentioned in an earlier post, my cousin Ted taped all The Walton’s’ episodes, so I can view any of them at my leisure. My biggest shock will be when I see the weddings of any of the Walton siblings. I don’t think I will be able to handle the shock! Where is the Baldwin Sisters’ “recipe” (or really “Papa’s recipe”) when I need it?!?

Somewhere in this forum, I believe someone mentioned that, had Michael known that Season 9 was going to be the last, she would have stayed on the show.

Yes, she did say that at one point. However, in one of her most recent interviews, she says that she was glad that she left when she did.

AR15. Fabulous montage. Loved it. Congrats.
If you are taking requests, I’d love to see one of grandpa. Even though he died too young, his might last an hour. He was quite the character.

^ I could watch an hour of him just laughing. He always gave me a happy when he laughed.

As it happens, I was already planning on making one about him I will be sure to post it here when I'm done. Though, since these take me a long time to make, it'll probably be quite a while before I do (as I haven't even started yet!)

AR15. Just seeing this for the first time. Well done, good fellow!!!
I recognized most of the clips you used. Such fun! So poignant as well.
I love this family, and even the newer programs.
Thanks for this labor of love.
Blessings, Teri \0/

Thank You for this tribute. Both the montage of film clips along with the music were perfect.
