Yesterday I had dinner with a good friend then we watched a movie but during the evening we talked about a spectrum of things. He mentioned how he kept watching this particular older show over and over again that's when I brought up The Waltons. I said even on work nights I'd leave the box on Hallmark so when I got home I could rewind the channel then watch whatever I might have missed. How my love affair with the program began again in July of '20 when we were all home because of the pandemic. Searching for something to watch I remember stumbling on The Waltons on Hallmark then finding out it was on every night from 7pm to 12pm. I had forgotten how good the show was and soon I was glued to the TV every night for five hours watching the seasons cycle through over and over again. To this day I still watch Hallmark almost every night despite that I must have seen at least each episode 25 times by now but here's why I do. My friend Jeff said that now a days there's so much negativity, cynicism and sarcasm on TV that it's hard to watch and that maybe we like these older shows because there's still a theme that there's something good out there. I immediately said you know you're right that shows like The Waltons make you feel good especially now with all that's going on around us. The show was like an old friend I hadn't seen in years and hearing Earl Hamner's voice again well it was comforting and reassuring when I needed it the most. I never looked at it that way till my friend said maybe that's why but either way I don't plan on stopping now.

I always think of The Waltons as a soothing balm for my bruised soul. ๐๐๐ When I had to let my sweet girl go to Rainbow Bridge, Waltons was the only thing I could stand for weeks. I did not want humor, or violence, or suspense. I just wanted peace.

A show with out sex, language, violence.
I will always be addicted to shows like Waltons, LHOP, Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke, Honeymooners, Brady Bunch

You said it and that's why channels are popping up now that only show classic television because people long for those wholesome shows.
