Morgan Stevens, who appeared on the ’80s TV series “Fame” and ’90s hit “Melrose Place,” passed away of heart disease, according to the report by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office. The case report lists “arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease,’ which is also known as “hardening of the arteries” according to the Mayo Clinic, as his sole cause of death.
I was saddened to hear he was severely beaten in 1989 by the *LAPD while in custody on suspicion of DUI to which he was cleared. Stevens claimed after 90 minutes of waiting in a jail cell, he refused to hand back the shirt that was given, when two jailers kicked and beat him over two dozen times. Stevens suffered a dislocated jaw, a fractured cheek and nerve damage. His recent passing, the coroner reports, was from heart disease (arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease).
