Tonight while sitting on the porch swing that was once my Grandparents' I started thinking about them and how The Walton's were surrogate Grandparents for me. Until I was 12 yrs old, we lived just 15 minutes from them; that was May of 1972 just 4 months before The Walton's 1st aired. Anyway, I was thinking about my Grandparent's house, being with them and remembering how the light came in through their windows, the shadows and really just the most wonderful memories! Don't you think The Walton's had some of the best lighting techs ever?!?! For instance, the episode when John Curtis is born, Mary Ellen walks from the front porch around the side of the house to the clothes line. Olivia goes inside to check on the baby. That scene stands out in my mind, the lighting as she is walking through the kitchen is perfect, so very realistic I felt as though I was with my Grandma in her kitchen. Lights were not burned during the day, even when my Grandma was at her sewing machine! She had it in front of a large window in the kitchen, I have her sewing machine and her quilting frames.....maybe, someday I will make a quilt in her honor.

Yep, they did a real good job with the show overall, I think. Of course there are bloopers but think of all of the work and different sets, lighting and everything else. Some people thought it was filmed in Virginia but it wasn't. It was done at Warner Brothers and I've heard they went to some park to shoot some of the scenes but it was all filmed in California. It must have taken a lot of money to make the show because look at all the different scenes, sets, etc. I think today's sitcoms are boring partly because they only have one or two different sets. Usually a kitchen and living room and of course a bedroom and that is it.

The Walton's conjure up some very special memories and feelings for me. Wow! BMCGILL I really don't understand why you posted what you did. Yes, I know the show was filmed in CA, and that it was just actors portraying these characters, and they were reading scripts, and the house wasn't real, and that there are LOTs of BLOOPERS. I'm sure that I could name off just as many (if not more) of them as anyone else ~ I choose to enjoy the show probably the way it was intended to be enjoyed. Now, I'm asking the moderator to please delete my account or name or whatever it's called. I've enjoyed The Walton's for many DECADES before I ever heard of this forum. To everyone that really got my different posts' ~ don't ever change. To everyone else ~ I hope you do! Thank you and Goodbye.

What was that??? What did he say wrong? I didn't read anything negative whatsoever, just stating facts about the filming of the show. I too, thought it was filmed out east and was surprised to find out different. Thanks for the heads up on that Buck!
P.S. We can delete our own accounts here just by going to our Profile and Modify Profile and down at the bottom - Delete Account. But don't do that, stick around and have some fun!

Quite the opposite Rhonda. Life is good and I'm basically a happy person...always have been. I have never picked on a person in my life. Quite the contrary, I was bullied in junior high and senior high, so I know what it would be like to be on the receiving end of meanness. I don't have a mean bone in my body. I'm sorry you feel that way.

Rhonda, please chill out. Most everybody on this forum are very nice people from all over the world. Like I tried to explain a while back, things may not come accross in words on the computer like a person meant them to be. You don't see the smiles, emotions and just body language all together.

Rhonda,
Not sure what the problem is. I wish you would stay, but if you feel like you must delete your account, that is certainly your right to do so. I haven't seen any posts by Marilyn that would even remotely suggest that she was a "mean girl" or whatever. She has always been a great contributer here at the forum, and I appreciate her.
Anyway, I wish you well.

Thank you for that Brenda. I was trying to think back on when I might have said something mean, but I honestly couldn't come up with anything. I don't want to say anything that would hurt anyone, and like Buck said, sometimes what we say online comes across different than what we mean due to the lack of hearing tone of voice, seeing body language, etc. I've seen this cause alot of misunderstandings all over the internet and in emails. I'm just so appreciative of this board being here and all the work that went into creating it and maintaining it. This is a place to come to where I can relax and go back in time.
