So, so sorry to hear that. Claire requested me as a FB friend some years ago, and we chatted many times through Messenger since then. She always said that she wanted to visit Ecuador. Earl Hamner introduced me to her and her husband Rod at the 2004 California reunion of "The Waltons" as the man who watched the show in Ecuador. I will miss her.

I was so sad to hear about this because apparently it looked like she had turned a corner and was recovering. What an amazing life she led. I can't believe that photo of the last weekend she spent with the Waltons cast members. No way would I guess her age!!! She looked incredible! She certainly had a long and full life. But for those who loved her, it's never "enough," which is the true measure of one's impact on the world. My deepest condolences to all who knew and loved her and grieve her passing. Rest in heavenly peace, Claire. Thank you for your beautiful work that we still enjoy today. 💞💗💖

How nice you were able to make that connection, Ned. Sweet memories to hold onto. 💗

I skimmed through her IMDb page and noticed that she wrote both 'Grandma Comes Home' and 'The Empty Nest'.
What a challenge for her to have written one of the happiest episodes of the entire series and then to have to write one of the saddest.

Did not know when I posted about the passing of Claire Whitaker that it had already made the news through social media onto The Forum. It was so wonderful to see all the loving comments and the great photos of Claire with her husband and some of the cast during their surprise visit. I still keep forgetting to check out all the comments of the day on The Forum. I just have no desire to be on Facebook or Twitter or other forms of social media. But, I guess that is the way a lot of people communicate these days. This is the 4th passing of a close friend whose death was announced on those platforms.
Mark (one of her sons) sent me a picture of my parents at Claire and Pete’s surprise wedding with the text about getting photos for “Mom’s service”. I was in shock and texted back: “What service?” Then, Mark called me apologizing. He thought he had reached out to let me know the sad news.
I know how horrible it is when a family member dies and you think you told everyone. Best of all, I am sure Claire knew how much she was loved, but it is so incredible to see how she impacted so many lives - mine included. She will be BEYOND missed by so many and what an incredible legacy she leaves behind!

Yes, she will, of course, through her vast body of work but also by her abundant kindness. She was such a positive force in an often negative world. I will miss her friendship.
