Kazk- obviously meant “stroke” instead of “stoke” in my last post. My fast typing slide right over the “r” and my proofreading sucks! Sorry!

I've seen the show but that was a very long time ago in first runs. I've never seen it in syndication. Apparently your mother was in only 3 episodes, but I couldn't find a single scene on YouTube with her in it. (There were surprisingly few scenes with Bob Cummings for that matter.)
The show lasted only 1 season (26 episodes). Cummings was written out of the show (transferred to Pakistan) in episode 21. (There are may theories as to 'why'.) The show was not renewed.
There was no pilot for the show. It was riding on the coattails of the hit 'My Favorite Martian'.

Julie Newmar played Rhoda Miller, the robot, and went on after the show ended to join the cast of Batman (Adam West & Burt Ward) playing the role of Catwoman.

Easton, I am, again, so impressed that you found out so much info that I had no clue about! I am so surprised that the show was that short. But, then again, I never saw it because it was one and done! I will have to do some sleuthing myself and try to find out why Bob Cummings left? Probably some deep, dark Hollywood secret that his lawyers kept quiet?!? Of course, I am ONLY guessing. Bob Cummings never had the reputation of being a “problem” in show business. Perhaps it was because Julie Newmar was getting all the press?!? I must admit she IS the prettier of the two!
Don’t know when Julie went on to star as “Catwoman” on the Adam West “Batman” series. I do know that, sadly, her only son (I think his name is John) was born with several significant birth anomalies. Her husband left them, I think, and Julie left show business to take care of her sin by herself. She did a few episodic TV appearances later (like “Hart to Hart”) but for the most part, she chose her son over fame. I applaud her decision!
Carol, how in the world did you find where I could get the episodes?! Thank you for giving me a place to explore. I am just surprised that if my Mom was only in 3 episodes, why in the world would anyone - ESPECIALLY from Australia - go to all that trouble to track me down for one episode? I guess fans like what they like!

Perhaps it was because Julie Newmar was getting all the press?!? I must admit she IS the prettier of the two! That was it. Prettiness aside, Julie was getting all of the accolades and Robert was not happy about it.
Her son's name is, indeed, John: John Jewl Smith.
Here is a short video created by the LA Times in 2019 featuring Julie & John in the amazing garden that Julie created for her son. Will Geer would most definitely approve:
(EDIT: I forgot to mention that Julie speaks before you see her on the screen, but you will know it's her simply by her voice.)

Easton, thank you so much for forwarding on the beautiful video of Julie Newmar and her garden. It was so touching and really does make one want to stop and smell the roses and be grateful for all you have. Just lovely!

^ Julie said that John was deaf, but it's clear that he had vision problems as well. She was (and undoubtedly still is) a very devoted mother to have taken on the task of raising him alone.
As for the garden, it truly was incredibly beautiful and you can tell that Julie designed it with purpose. Just imagine the smells as John rides his mobility scooter through it.

flossieskid I've just seen your question so here goes...
I had to look up "My Living Doll" to see what it was!! :-) I have never heard of it!
Having said that though, it may have been very popular when I was growing up. I see it was done in 1964/65 and I would have been 8 at the time so probably in bed by the time it aired. At that time we only had three television networks at that time, one of which was the national government channel which would mostly have had Australian content. So a very limited choice of shows to watch. It probably did do quite well when it was on here at the time but I've never seen it. Perhaps it was in his demographic. :-)
I'm amazed though that he would have taken the time to chase up your phone number and that it was given to him. You must have been extremely surprised. I can understand perhaps writing a letter but not ringing so many numbers overseas. He must have had a very large phone bill that month, but perhaps it was something that he needed to do, and I guess it would have been a tribute to your Mum's talent that she was so well remembered for her role. I wonder if the man found her on The Waltons?

Kazk - thanks for the reply. Well, you and I are in the same club - never saw the shoe! I absolutely agree with you about him calling all over to try and find me. But, I am more shocked he got our unlisted phone number from the actor union SAG. He must have said he was a long lost relative who HAD to reach me. As you said, I was very surprised but couldn’t get too mad - he loved my Mom, so he was already a good guy in my book!

I wouldn't have been too happy with SAG either. They should have just passed on his details to you. It would have been nice to hear from such a devoted fan though.
