I used to work for The Hollywood Entertainment Museum and our temporary space was on Paramount Studios lot. Shortly after our arrival, they filmed the whale and ocean scene on “Star Trek” the movie. Paramount would clear out its on-studio parking lot and fill up the tank . It was amazing when half the studio (me included) came out to watch the “Enterprise” deal with saving the imaginary whales they would CGI later. But, I digress…
While walking at lunch to get my exercise, I happened to walk by a huge trailer that they give stars shooting near-by on a soundstage. As I was approaching the trailer, the wind blew the door open. I did not see anyone coming out to close it, so I thought I would be a good neighbor and close it myself. With the door in one hand, I walked up one stair and thought since no one was there it seemed, I might just peek in. I did and recognized sexy Sean Connery - fast asleep - on his wide sofa! Well, NOW what do I do? What if he wakes up and sees this woman with a hand on the door to his trailer? So do I shut it? Do I step back and just leave the door open? I was really frozen not knowing what to do.
When I finally decided to quietly close the door and let Sean take his nap, he woke up - and looked up! He must have thought he was being accosted. I just stepped down the stair, still holding the door and said, “I’m terribly sorry I woke you, but the wind blew open your door and I was just closing it so you wouldn’t be awakened.” I thought it best to invent the lie, do not let him know I, of course, realized he was the sexy Sean Connery and just get the hell out of there!!
He must have been exhausted and I guess I didn’t look like a threat, so he just raised his head a bit, smiled at me and with his adorable Scottish brogue he said “Thanks, luv” and put his head back on his couch to finish his nap. I quickly shut the door and left! I had another encounter with the sexy Scotsman, but that is for another time!

I love these 'chance encounter' stories of yours. It's difficult for a lot of people, I'm sure, to believe that Sean got his start in musicals.
Short of playing Indie's father, I think Sean's greatest role was Captain Ramius in Hunt for Red October. His only spoken line that I can remember without Google is from that movie: (aboard the submarine Red October) "Ryan, some things in here don't react well to bullets."
I knew that the water scenes in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home were filmed in that special pool under the parking lot. It must have been quite the sight what with the wind and rain and wave machines. It looked like the cast was really having a blast filming it.

I read some comments on a Youtube video about the scene where the whales are being pursued by a whaling ship and Kirk has to intervene in his stolen ship and then beam the whales up. The comment said, some animal rights activists thought real whales were being filmed because they were so realistic looking. A little off topic, but another comment said something about the whale poachers thoughts as the ship de-cloaked. It was something like, "Greenpeace is really stepping up it's game. Let's get out of here". I loved Sean Connery as Indie's father.

I enjoyed your story Tracey about helping Sean with his swinging door. I can't recollect if I've heard him speaking in his native accent. I found this 1971 BBC interview with him and can hear his brogue.

Tom Clancy is one my dad's favourite authors of fiction. Two summers ago I tried reading The Hunt For Red October. I gave up after a few chapters. I just didn't find it interesting. It just wasn't for me.

^ Clancy is a pretty heavy read. The movie may be much easier to swallow.
Here's my quote from above:
