The Achievement was on the other day and, during the scene where John-Boy is talking to Belle Becker of the Hastings House publishing company. As he's telling her about the book, the scene flashes back to The Homecoming where a red-headed John-Boy is explaining to his mother what he writes in his tablets and opening his Christmas gift of a stack of writing tablets.
With the direct comparison of the movie to the 5th season of the series, Richard's phoney red hair and his phony Virginian accent were very noticeable. I'm glad both eventually disappeared.
Odd that his eyebrows are still brown.

Judy talked about the red hair in one of her recent videos. I can’t remember which one.
I imagine an Appalachian accent came easily to Richard. His father was from eastern Kentucky, from a place very near where I live in western West Virginia. His grandparents lived in eastern Kentucky, and he used to visit them when he was growing up.

^ I remember Judy talking about all the kids except Eric & Kami needing a colour change in The Homecoming.
Apparently so.

I think it was the video about Hair and Make Up. She said they colored the kids hair for The Homecoming then for the series they just allowed them to keep their natural color. I think she said it was too time consuming for the lone hair dresser to keep up with it.

I wanted to have streaks of purple, red,, blue, green in my hair. But its against a family rule. Sometimes I think my parents make up rules on the spot just to suit their mood!

Ahh that's what parents do. I have found myself becoming my grandmother and daddy while teaching Sunday school lol. "No you don't need anymore sugar" when they want too many cookies. "BECAUSE I SAID SO"

My ancestors on my mother's side are from Eastern Kentucky also. Back in the late 1700's. "Wade" was their last name. Nancy Wade married David McKinney. My grandmother is Reatha McKinney. They were in the area of Boonesborough, and a place called Morgan's Station. There are documented stories of the Wade family and their encounter with Indians, as they tried to settle down in that area. So interesting that Richard's and your family are from that area too.
