Lucille Benson of Scottsboro, Alabama, played the role of Tilly Shanks in The Fledgling, 1976, season 4. I think this was her only appearance on The Waltons.

Lucille, like Brian Dennehy, was one of those actors knew but didn't know the name. I'm still trying to picture her character on the Waltons. (For some odd reason, I've lost the use of the capital 't' on my keyboard.)

She was on a Little House on the Prairie episode too. She played a teacher who had broken her leg or some such injury, and Laura was her substitute teacher.

Here she is on LHOTP. Her character’s name was Miss Trimble. It was the episode Sweet 16.

It was the one where the 25-year-old Manly decided to rob the cradle and start chasing the barely post-pubescent Laura.
Ick.

Thanks. As soon as I saw the picture of the diner, I knew, even though I had Googled her picture.

I think Almanzo Wilder was 10 years older than Laura in real life. Going by memory here, I did not check the actual age difference!

Crazy how what we now call pedophilia was just normal then and now we cannot get it out of society.

The episode was Sweet Sixteen S6 Ep22 where Almanzo finally sees Laura as a woman. Lucille played Miss Trimble the teacher with the broken leg who Laura substituted for.

And there are 11 years between my parents. But they didn't meet until my mother was in her early 20s.
