We know that both John and his brother, Ben, went of to war in WWI. We also know that Ben didn't come back. We know that all 4 Walton brothers went off to war in WWII, but we also know that many soldiers didn't come home.
John-Boy, Jason, and Ben all saw combat and could easily have died in their service. Jim-Bob, although stationed at an air base, never saw combat, but could easily have been involved in a fatal accident.
The odds were pretty good that one of the Walton boys would not come home again.
In your opinion, which brother would be the most devastating loss?

I think for me it would be John Boy.

It would seem that Jason and Ben were in the thick of things the most. With Jason leading a combat group and Ben being a POW.

Ben bc he was married and had a baby. Also, I think bc he helped run the mill. I agree. John Boy was the golden child, Jason was the sensitive child, JimBob was the dreamer, but Ben was the child who was chosen to take over the family business, raise his family there on the mountain, and carry on the family traditions.
