INSP is now showing Season 1 again, 2 episodes every day, 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM eastern time. I just watched The Foundling, and I’m watching The Carnival now.

I watched a Season 9 episode on MeTV at noon, followed by The Foundling and The Carnival a couple of hours later.
Wow, the difference is jarring! Ellen Corby pre-stroke, Grandpa, a much sterner Olivia (as seen in The Carnival). And the kids look so, so young.
They must've improved the landscaping around the house over the years, because in the Season 9 episode I saw, John is playing with John Curtis out front towards the side on lush, green grass, whereas in the Season One episodes that area looks brown!

Today I watched the Season 9 episode The Triumph on MeTV. Now I’m watching The Hunt after just watching The Calf on INSP. I agree with boatwright . It’s interesting to see the differences from Season 9 back to Season 1, the family intact with Grandpa alive, pre-stroke Grandma, John and Olivia lovingly interacting with each other and the kids, the real John Boy, G.W. Haines still alive, the kids so young and cute and walking around barefoot. Even the music is better. I love this show.

Yes I am watching on INSP as well. I was getting frustrated with how things were left in Season 9 so I am happy to see it start all over again. I love seeing the whole gang again and they all look so young.
I just noticed that yesterday the first 2 episodes of the first season played. Nobody at least the kids had shoes. And now today the 3rd episode played nd everyone suddenly had shoes! 😂 That was fast

The Hunt was actually the first episode that was filmed, but for some reason they decided to air The Foundling first. Maybe that’s why they’re barefoot again. I imagine they decided to put shoes on the kids for safety reasons. Having them barefoot would have been correct for the place and time period. My parents grew up in rural areas during the depression, and they said they always went barefoot in warm weather and saved their shoes for winter.

The Hunt was filmed first? Yes maybe that explains the shoes

They were barefoot in the mountains of WV in the 40s according to my daddy. Me, I can't stand walking with no shoes.

As I watch the beginning again and see how full of life the grandparents had and then to know that in just about 5 more years and Grandpa was gone And soon after Grandma had a stroke . It really shows how short life is
