Even as an adult, I am upset when I lose another piece of my childhood. I never met Earl Hamner Jr. I only know of him through one of my all-time favorite television shows - The Waltons. Mr. Hamner never knew I exist. Yet, I will miss him.
Gone is a man who reminded us that there was a time when the important things in life were good, wholesome family values, love, honor, hard work, discretion, honesty, and integrity. Now, the cesspool that is pop culture has eroded the values that Earl Hamner reminded us of each week during a Waltons broadcast.
For this I am saddened. For Earl Hamner Jr. and The Waltons I am grateful.
Goodnight Earl.

Such sad news at his passing but....oh what a life well lived. I rejoice in the fact he is now reunited with his beloved parents, his adored grandparents and all those red-haired brothers and sister. He used every bit of talent God gave him and created a legacy we will continue to enjoy for years to come. Goodnight John-Boy

Very sad news but I am grateful that he did live to write the tv shows and movies that I want to watch without worrying there will be nudity, foul language and misc crap in it that I don't wish to see. Thank you Mr. Hamner ... may you R.I.P.

This is sad news but not unexpected. What an enormously creative and full life he had in his 92 years! My condolences to his family and friends and all those who loved and knew him well. Grieve his passing, celebrate his having been here.

I watched An Easter Story last night. It was good to hear his voice. Such a great man. A friend of mine told me this year's ago. It always gives me comfort. When someone dies we say, "There he goes." And someone on the other side is saying, "Here he comes!"
