I would encourage anyone sharing links of Earl's passing to take an extra few minutes to copy the articles and paste them in this thread (if possible). From past experience, in sharing the loss of a celebrity, the links often "go bad" in time, and the articles disappear from the original source.
In copying and pasting, we will at least be able to preserve these stories and moments regarding Earl.
I have posted a few articles, and will keep an eye open for more throughout the days ahead.

What can I say about this most amazing and humble man that has been a part of my life since 1971?
I grew up watching The Homecoming and The Waltons. He adapted E.B. White's Charlotte's Web and I cried my eyes out when Charlotte died when I watched it as a child. I have enjoyed the 'Twilight Zone' episodes that he wrote.
I had the honor and privilege of spending time with Mr. Hamner at Carolyn Grinnell's '40th Waltons International Fan Club Dinner' in Burbank California on September 28th, 2012. It was wonderful riding on the tour bus with him and Mrs. Grinnell to the Burbank Studios the next morning (9/29/12) to tour the studio and the Walton's house. I was amazed at his vim, vigor and vitality at the age of 89. His magnificent voice was still there. I thought to myself, "His wife Jane gets to hear this wonderful voice all the time, how lucky she is." Later that evening I got to spend more time with him at 'The 40th Walton's Anniversary Celebration' at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. I will always be grateful for the time spent with him. I will cherish my photos taken with him and the items he autographed for me. He was always so gracious to his fans. I will never forget that while I was standing close to Mr. Hamner on the front porch of the Walton's house, forum member MrsOliviaWalton (Jane), had been patiently waiting to have her picture made with him. The tour guide was telling him it was time to go and he told them they would have to wait a minute..."I still have to get my picture taken with Jane."
What a legacy he leaves behind. One of the many things I admire about him is that he stayed that humble, caring country boy his whole life. He did not let Hollywood change him one bit. He stuck with his morals and values till the end.
I want to thank Brenda Irby (forum administrator) for keeping this site up and running. I want to thank Carolyn Grinnell for the opportunity for allowing me to meet him. I want to thank Ray Castro, Michael McGreevey and Tim McAbee for honoring Mr. Hamner with the documentary, Earl Hamner: Storyteller.
Most of all I want to thank Mr. Earl Hamner Jr. for his talent of writing and bringing us all along for the journey. It is because of him that I have made some of the most wonderful friendships that anyone could ever ask for. I never would have known any of you otherwise...
My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, family, friends and loyal fans. My heart has been heavy since I heard of his passing last night and tears are in my eyes right now, so I will end with "Goodnight Mr. Hamner, thank you for making such a positive impact in my life."

I hope he knew how much we all loved and admired him. A couple of stories about Earl and this forum. First story: Several years ago, I was at the book signing in Schuyler after the Earl Hamner biography was published. I waited in line to get my copy signed by the author, James Person, and Earl Hamner. Finally it was my turn. I had met Earl before, but I was afraid he didn't remember me. I told him my name, and he started to write in my book. Then he stopped and looked up and said, "Brenda? Are you the Brenda who runs the Waltons forum?" I told him I was. He replied, "I want to hug your neck." Then he had me come around the table to give him a hug. (Photo attached below) This is what he wrote in my book: To Brenda With gratitude for the forum. Love, Earl
Second story: When I first opened this Proboards forum, after using Voy Forums for several years, some people had trouble learning how to use it. One day my phone rang. I looked at the caller ID: HAMNER, EARL I hesitantly answered the phone, and I heard a familiar voice say, "Brenda, this is Earl... Earl Hamner." He was calling about the forum because he was having trouble signing up for it. So I got on my computer and walked him through the registration process. (By the way, I don't like my short hair in this photo). Attachments:
