Here's two more: John embracing Erin in the meadow as he reads the letter that G.W. wrote to her shortly before his death in "The First Casualty". Mary Ellen hearing John read the letter that Curt had written to John Curtis in the event of his death. Curt was killed in Pearl Harbor in "The Day of Infamy".
I must have some "thing" for the sad episodes. The First Casualty and The Day of Infamy are in my top 10 favorite episodes that I watch over and over again. Oh and The Empty Nest episode where the family all gathers to pay tribute to Grandpa. Again with a death scene. I really need to find happy episodes!

Another one of my many favorite Walton moments is in The Fledgling when John-Boy says good-bye to everyone before moving to Westham for a while. I just love how he said good-bye to and hugged each member of the family. It is further evidence of what a close-knit family they were.
