I have some press photos that I would like Ms. Learned to sign (along with an ornament). But I don't have any pictures of Ms. Whelman. I missed last years autograph session so I don't know what the protocol is. Will there be pictures of Cissy to purchase?

At the California reunion in 2012, Cissy Wellman had photos of herself for sale. I had brought my own photo for her to sign and she charged $5.00 to autograph it. I don't remember if she charged extra for her photos that she had for sale or if it was included in the $5.00 autograph fee??? So I expect she will bring photos with her for people to purchase.
Last year Deirdre Lenihan (Daisy), Michael McGreevey (Hobie) and Angel Rhoades (Virginia) had photos for sale that they would autograph. They were either $5.00 or $10.00 - I only bought one of Michael's. I had brought my own of Angel and Deirdre that I had taken of them the previous year in California. They graciously did not charge me anything to autograph them since I had brought my own pictures. I offered to pay them but they would not take it. David Harper (Jim Bob) did not have a set fee for autographs. He just asked you to pay what you wanted to. He also had t-shirts for sale that he had done himself.
I have no idea whatsoever what Michael Learned charges for an autograph. Does anyone know how much she has charged in the past at previous reunions?

I have two ornaments and two copies of the applesauce cake recipe to be signed. I also bought a new fine point black sharpie just in case I needed it.

It just dawned on me...Cissy Wellman charged $5.00 for a photo that she provided (including her autograph). She just charged me $2.00 for her autograph since I had brought my own photo for her to sign. Sometimes I have to oil my gears to get my mind to work.

I hope they are bringing items to sign because I don't have any to bring. When I thought that Mary Beth McDonough might be there, I was going to bring her book. However, she won't be there as we know. (And it would be strange to have other people sign someone else's book.) I'm sure they'll bring their own photos.

I'm afraid I have bad feelings about charging for autographs -- it appears rather pathetic to me when they charge small amounts.... how broke can they be ? ... Don't they want to "honor" their fans ? ... Aren't they happy to be there, basking in fans' admiration ? ... I can understand charging for the cost of a photo, but other than that, I just don't understand ... when a fan writes to them, requesting a signed photo, do they charge for that ??

Sometimes it pays for their accommodations where they are or travel expenses...sometimes the actor is out of work and they need the cash, sometimes people will just get autographs just so they can sell them on EBay or at shows and make money off of it, so that's why some charge too. What I don't like is for current sports stars who make 10 million a year and charge for autographs... How much money do you need? But since some people will pay $100 for an autograph and the market is there.. Why not?

Re highly-paid sports figures -- "Why not".... of course, they're free to do it, but they've lost my love Re Waltons Reunion -- I'd rather all their expenses be paid by the club/forum attendees... then, a guest celebrity, wouldn't have to embarrass themselves by asking a pittance for each autograph.... for me, that really spoils it.... and reminds me it is in fact a different world these days, eBay included.... it's all about money.

I agree with you, Jeri. The pictures cost money to be sure, and the artists should not have to LOSE money through their fan club event appearances. But some celebrities are just crazy. I have a friend who said the cast of "Good Times," four of them, were charging over $200 for a photo and their signatures at a recent autograph show in NJ. That seems over the top to me. Don't these people realize who has granted them their fame? And with the exception of John Amos, they could really be considered "has-beens."
I have requested many autographs by mail over the year, and the true greats do not CHARGE their fans either for pictures or their signatures. Rita Moreno, Elaine Stritch, James Garner, and Rosemary Harris immediately come to mind. I could mention many others.

So don't the stars who show up for these reunions get paid? I have always assumed that it's a business proposition and that these folks aren't just participating out of the goodness of their hearts. I would think lodging and travel expenses would be paid for them. I had no idea that they would charge for an autograph.

I share similar feelings as you do, Jeri. I can fully understand purchasing photos from the stars and having them autograph it. I get that. But, just charging for an autograph? I do have mixed feelings about it. If I wanted an autograph badly enough on my own personal item, I probably would pay it, but I still question it. My husband and I were just discussing the Walton's cruise we went on with many of the Walton's cast members in 1999. We remember all the photos costing $10.00. They were studio-type photos of each star and nothing "Walton's," so we opted out.

While there was a charge for the autographs at this reunion, they signed as many items as you brought up (I was kind of embarrassed to ask for the "one more" autograph when I bought the ornament from Cindy, but I did anyway!). They were terribly gracious about signing stuff and they said the autograph fees went to charity, albeit I didn't ask what charity and no details were provided beyond that.

I liked reading the money goes to charity. Thank you for sharing that with us. Kudos to the Walton's stars! I wouldn't care which charity it was and would gladly pay their price then. We have quite a few Walton's items and none of them are autographed. It would have been nice to bring a couple of them to be autographed this year, especially by Michael Learned. Our treasured lunch box for sure!!

Your lunchbox, et al., will be there with you next year !
