Some people don't like Cora Beth because she acts a little uppity.
What about Martha Rose Coverdale?

I agree with corabeth, she was hard to take for some people. How about yancey,he definitely was a character and stole chickens but not a bad person. David

Were there any fiends on The Waltons? Little House on the Prairie had Nellie and Mrs. Olson, but, other than cranky grandma (who was cranky, but not exactly a fiend,) were there any awful people (regulars) on the series?
I consider Buck Vernon (Barry Cahill) to be a fiend. He was the one trying/helping to stir up trouble in:
The Fire Storm Season 5 Ep. 5 John Boy wants to write excerpts of Hitler's Mein Kampf in The Blue Ridge Chronicle. Buck provides the books for the book burning and gives a short speech at the fire.
The Rumor Season 6 Ep. 14 Willie Brimmer, his wife and daughter are from Germany and come to settle at Walton's Mountain. Elizabeth says some things that are misunderstood. Plus Corabeth runs her mouth about Willie making a call at the Mercantile to Germantown Pennsylvania and speaking in German on the phone. So who decides to come get a piece of Willie Brimmer...why none other than Buck Vernon and his cronies.

Was he the one who wanted to run the gypsies out of town?

I think Erin showed a rather bratty or "bit*chy" streak from time to time.... and, I noted some annoying whining during the course of the series, so started paying more attention and realized she did that a lot, too !! ... MaryEllen could certainly do some whining, but it was somehow more expected in her character.
