Yes, it will be in Hallmark stores on October 4th. I already have my name on their wishlist for it, they are reserving one for me.

Just read some more on the Hallmark site. The fans are up in arms that the good nights that play after the theme music are NOT using the original cast voices. Just so everyone knows. . . .

The news about the wrong voices is sad I'm actually LESS keen to buy it knowing it has the wrong voices, than I would be if it had no voices at all.

With Hallmark's connection to The Waltons, you'd think they could have easily gotten rights (and access to !!) actual cast voices.... bad move !!

I ordered 4 of them. I plan on giving out a few as gifts. I too wish they had used the original voices but at least they have the house ornament!

I'm sure I'll end up with at least one of these by Christmas, but two things kinda bothered me. 1. First and foremost, the house just doesn't look good enough. The scale of the second floor just looks off and it is minor, but the fact that there is a railing on the right hand side of the porch irks me for some reason. 2. I don't mind the different voices, but the dialogue is just not funny. When on the show did they end with everyone laughing like that? A more simple set of good nights would have been just fine. Why try to get funny? Those items pointed out, I'll buy it anyway.

I don't really care that much about the voices..I'll enjoy just hanging it on my tree anyway and being happy looking at it. I'm amazed they're even putting out an ornament for a 40-yr-old show. Just demonstrates the staying power of The Waltons!

I really like the theme music--that sounds very nice. They could have just done it with the theme music and maybe gotten a recording of one "good night John Boy" in one of the original voices. But oh well... I still think I'd like it.

I would think the issue might be a copyright, which is why they did what they did.

I just listened and it's an actual closing scene they used in one of the episodes. Do you know which episode? I don't know the exact one, but it was an early season--'73 or '74. Because it was on recently and they're still doing the earlier shows. I don't think it was an episode about Jim Bob, even though he was the "star" of the good-nights. When it comes around again, I'll be sure to let you know.

Cute ornament but would have preferred that it only played the theme music. I did not care for the voices saying good night.
