I tried searching for a thread on this topic, but could not find anything. So, I apologize in advance if this has already been covered.
Last evening on Hallmark was the 6th season Grandma Comes Home episode. We all know this was the last time we saw Will Geer and Ellen Corby together as Grandpa and Grandma Walton.
Obviously scripts had to be adjusted for Ellen's stroke, so I wonder if the writers had planned to have more interaction with Ellen and Will in the 7th season, to show them relying on each other and helping with the recovery. And, with the sudden passing of Will Geer, were the scripts re-modified to accommodate for his passing?
My point - which I know I am not making clearly - is I'm curious how the stories would have been in S7 if Will had been around.
Does anyone have something from the writers/actors/crew about this that they could share? Perhaps it's been discussed at a reunion or gathering.
Thanks!

Just my opinion but I always felt that they would keep Grandpa being the same reliable go to person for the family as he always was. However I also can see where there might have been an episode that concentrated on how Grandma had to get around her stubborn independent nature. Allowing Grandpa to help her. Which he would have so desperately wanted to do because he loved her and felt compelled to care for her.

I don't know what the writers' intentions were but, Grandpa's sage wisdom would have been wonderful during the war years.

What we see is her going away, not being filmed as much and I doubt it had as much to do with grandpa being gone as it had to do with her been plum wore out and not in great health.
There were plenty of stories that could have been written for her as a single woman.

I think he was a great loss to the show and it showed in the number of times they referred to him and how they wished he was still around to give advice to them in times of trouble. I know I miss him in those last few seasons.
