I enjoyed reading your review, AR15. I also have the book, but I haven't read it for several years. Have you ever read the Earl Hamner biography, Earl Hamner, from Waltons Mountain to Tomorrow by James E. Person Jr?

Nice review. This is one of those books that I refer to all the time. I learn something new each time. I'm actually lucky enough to have two copies. One was sent to me by my dear friend Carolyn, which she had autographed by Earl and she added a personal message for me. Since then I've amassed many other autographs in that copy and have lots of beautiful messages from Waltons actors and script writers. I will always regret not having it when I met the lovely John McGreevey, who wrote so many of my favourite episodes, but I do have a lovely message in there from his son Michael.

I have this book! I absolutely loved it, it's really a good detailed episode guide though, going behind the scenes with various cast members reminiscing. I have not read the book Brenda mentioned, but will definitely look in to it!

Awesome, thank you anybody who read my review and yes, I agree with everybody, it is a good book! I also recommend you buy it, if you don't have it! Have you ever read the Earl Hamner biography, Earl Hamner, from Waltons Mountain to Tomorrow by James E. Person Jr? No, sadly, I have not, but it is on my 'to read' list (along with 685 other books!). Have you read it? Is it good?

I was lucky enough to be at the book signing in Schuyler, VA, and had my copy signed by both the author and Earl Hamner. I highly recommend this biography to anyone who has an interest in The Waltons or Earl Hamner. Click the image for an Amazon link:

I was so excited when the "Goodnight, John Boy" book came out. Earl Hamner had contacted Carolyn Grinnell to have some fans write about some of their favorite episodes, and Carolyn contacted me all the way here in Ecuador with Earl's request. I wrote about three of my favorite episodes. Quite an honor for me, and a blessing to see my name "in print" when it came out. It was a neat book. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't talk more about the production and share Earl's impressions of the show as it developed over the nine seasons, though. Maybe he'll write another book about his experiences. Here's hoping!

As it is, it's not even particularly easy to see the comings and goings of some of the regular characters (e.g. Michael Learned and Ralph Waite during the later seasons).
