In The Heartbreaker, Olivia dislikes Curt's sister for having left her husband and for 'taking marriage lightly'. In the next episode, The Go-Getter, she pushes Sarah and Ep into getting married, partly because she'd like to have Sarah living somewhere nearby. To me, she is taking marriage very lightly herself in that episode, and is so being rather hypocrticical...

Curt’s sister Vanessa was still married and had left her husband because she was bored. She was still married and was playing around Jason. Ep"s wife had died I think 18 years before and Sarah had never gotten married.

Oh, yes, yes, I know, I know. But Olivia says she is taking marriage 'lightly' because she and her husband have broken up. Her problem was that Vanessa had not taken her marriages vows seriously and was now apart from her husband. Meanwhile, in The Go Getter, Olivia does not make marriage too seriously, she plays matchmaker so that two people she likes will get married and so that she will have her new friend living in the area. She pushes them towards marriage, rather than letting it grow naturally, and by pushing two people to get married she herself is not taking it too seriously, she is taking it lightly, she thinks marriage is something that can be thrust on two people by somebody else. What makes it worse, is that in The Heartbreaker, when Jason says something along the lines of not all marriages being able to work out, she says it's 'taking people lightly' that she dislikes about Olivia, but pushing two people together, as she later did in The Go Getter, is clearly her taking people lightly.

I haven't seen "The Go Getter" for a long time, so I can't remember much about it. But I was thinking that Sarah and Ep were already in love, weren't they? I thought Ep was just shy and was moving very slow about asking Sarah to marry him. If this isn't what happened, please let me know. I really need to get the DVD out and watch the episode again.

Well, it depends on how you view it, really. Ep knew Sarah long ago, before he was married, and then reunited with her a few episodes before this. Olivia was convinced, without either of them saying so, that they were in love with each other. It'd be pretty easy to interpret them as being in love based on their behavior, but at the same time it could be seen as the affection old friends hold for one another. It's worth pointing out too, that John did not really agree with Olivia's matchmaking and only went along as an unwilling accomplice.

Maybe she was critical of Curt's sister because the girl was setting her sights on Jason.
