Just a thought I had: which was the biggest selfless deed done by a member of the Walton family?

When Erin worked an extra job at a business college to earn enough money to buy John Boy a typewriter. A favour which he repaid for her, when he carried her out of the burning house and let his novel burn! (though of course, life without his novel would not be as bad as life without his beloved sister, so that'd make it a lot less selfless!)

A favour which he repaid for her, when he carried her out of the burning house and let his novel burn! (though of course, life without his novel would not be as bad as life without his beloved sister, so that'd make it a lot less selfless!) Then John Boy performed a selfless deed when he offered the business college free advertising in exchange for Erin's tuition. Actually I think one of the main themes of The Walton was the way they often performed selfless deeds for each other and for others outside their family. I think the owner of the business college summed it up best with one simple question: "What kind of a family are you?"

When Ben gave Verdie the money he had been saving after she had been robbed.

I don't know if it's the most selfless but in the Carnival the second regular episode of the series, John Boy persuades the young children to give up their carnival money to pay fr Grandma's broken glasses. It's the earliest selfless moment n the series ad hw many kids today would do that. That's why it was nice the Carnival people performed for the Walton's. WmFan
