I was just googling some of the cast tonight and had a big "DUH" moment..Lynn was Donna on Sanford andSon ! I have watched that show hundreds of times and never connected her as the same actress who played Verde. She looks totally different even though both were shot in the 70's.

Yup, it's been mentioned a few times.... and not too long ago.... around the time of the reunion, I think.....

You probably are not the only one who didn't know, mtdawg, so thanks for bringing it up. Hal Williams, who played Verdie's husband Harley on The Waltons, was also on Sanford and Son. He was Officer "Smitty" Smith.
I think I've told this story before, but I will repeat it anyway. When I met Lynn Hamilton in 2007 in California, I told her that Sanford and Son was one of my dad's favorite shows, and he loved her character of Donna. She looked a little embarrassed and said, "Well, that's not my best work."

Verdie is one of my favorite non-Walton characters. I wonder why she felt that Donna was not her best work? Hope she doesn't think that of Verdie.

Verdie is one of my favorite non-Walton characters. I wonder why she felt that Donna was not her best work? Hope she doesn't think that of Verdie. I think that she is very proud of her work on the Waltons. ;D That was the impression I got from her during the time I spent with her at the reunions back in September 2012. She is my favorite non-Walton character & it was an absolute delight to meet her.

I feel sure that she is proud of her work on The Waltons. Otherwise she wouldn't appear at the Waltons Reunions.

Brenda, Sanford & Son was also one of my dad's favorite shows. I like to watch the reruns, I always think of him. I liked every character on the show including Donna/Linda. Has anyone heard if she'll be at the reunion in VA this fall?

Verdie is one of my favourite characters on the show and Lynn Hamilton is such a fine actress, a stunningly beautiful woman too in my opinion. I like that Hamner wrote the character of Verdie into the show as a semi-regular and actually focused some episodes around her in some of the later series especially as he claimed that the community he grew up in was a segregated community and he did know black people as a boy.
