What tv shows are people currently watching that they enjoy as much as the Waltons? I know not everyone here is from the US, so it doesn't have to be American programming, although I get a real kick out of The Middle which I guess is classed as family entertainment. Otherwise it's drama for me - Coronation Street (need I say British) and Arctic Air which is Canadian.

I really can't think of any good family type show like the Walton's that are on currently. I've been watching Road to Avonlea on dvd the past couple of days. After I started visiting another forum for Anne of Green Gables fans, I wanted to see some of the stories again.

I agree with goodnight. There is nothing as good as The Waltons. There are some other old shows I like to watch, especially Little House on the Prairie. My 6-year old granddaughter was staying with me last week while her baby sister was sick, and I introduced her to The Brady Bunch. She loved it. My 10 year old granddaughter was also staying with me while her baby brother was sick (I had 2 grandbabies in the hospital last week). She was playing on my computer while the TV was on. I didn't think she was paying any attention to the TV, so I started to turn it off, but she stopped me and said, "Don't! I want to see if they find Elizabeth." It was the episode of The Waltons where Olivia, JimBob, and Elizabeth got lost in the woods. And I had no idea she was paying any attention to it.

My husband and I gave up watching television years ago. Although we still have one television in our house, we have no type of television service (cable or other). We will watch an occasional movie on DVD, and we have two shows on DVD - entire series - The Waltons and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. And we have downloaded the British show/series Keeping Up Appearances for a good laugh. We haven't missed television and don't care to watch anything that is out there these days. We read, play board games, hike - anything but television. When my husband is deployed, I will watch one episode of either The Waltons or Dr. Quinn in the evening when I am feeling lonely or am winding down for the day. That's it.

Navywife - I've toyed with the idea of packing tv in too, and if the cost of cable keeps going up, it will become a reality.

:|Eight Is Enough was a nice family show in the 70s minus the problems of some of the cast off the air. Family Ties in the 1980s was also a great family show.More recently Everybody lovesRaymond and King of Queens made me laugh WmFan
