One has a lot of time to think when milking cows and I was thinking how wonderful it would be if producers decided to do a movie with John and Olivia in the roles as the grandparents living in the house with one of their children and grandchildren. It would be the full circle

It would be full circle if the did a movie where John Boy gets a contract to write a Tv Series based on his novel.
It is the only way to end it.

You really got it right there Awesome.....how cool that would be! I doubt it will ever happen as the Hollywood types would think there aren't enough people left around to support another Waltons movie. They'd rather do some more trashy Kardashian "entertainment".........

I hadn't thought of that and yes you are right. That would be the way to end it.

And, of course, the title of the series would be The Hamners.

With several key actors in their 80s..Ralph Waite for example we are done. And as avid fans like us..none of the reunion movies made any sense..like a bad Brady Bunch wannabe.

There will never be another Waltons show/movie made ..... just wouldn't attract an audience. We Walton fans are a rare and dying breed in today's world.....

Have your children and grandchildren had the pleasure of growing up watching the Waltons? I am doing it for the granddaughters now :-)

There will never be another Waltons show/movie made ..... just wouldn't attract an audience. We Walton fans are a rare and dying breed in today's world..... I don't know, that seems a little pessimistic! New Waltons fans are still popping up after all, I only became a fan four years ago ;D And as to the show returning, I think it's inevitable that it will return in some form or another. Although, sadly, another regular episode (following on with all the same actors and everything, I mean) probably is quite unlikely, I wouldn't be surprised if the series were rebooted, a fresh start with a new cast! I'm sure it wouldn't be as good, but I'd love to see what would be made of it and how it would compare. Also, it could return in a non-TV format, we have already had the Christmas album after all! All it would take would be an old writer of the show, or even an old cast member, to want to write some more with it, they could probably get the rights fairly easily, and all of the sudden the story continues in book form! What I would love to see, is some stories narrated by John-Boy (Richard Thomas) and released as audio books, a perfect way to keep it going with only one actor needed ;D that may be a bit optimistic, but I surely don't think we've seen the last of The Waltons!

There's always hope though! Who would've ever thought they would remake the Hawaii 5-0 show

Released in 2000 (I believe) and it was basically a CD of a Christmas day at the Walton House. There are lots of songs and several small conversations between the characters. You've got all of the main family (but the grandparents, obviously) as well as others such as Ike and Rose. It even starts with a narration from Earl Hamner and ends with a goodnight scene! Well worth buying

Speaking of The Brady Bunch, I hear they're doing a reboot of the Bradys centered around Bobbie. If that works (I tend to doubt it will), I can see the trend continuing. Maybe a Walton show centered around one or two Waltons? How about Jim-Bob's garage, Jason's band, or Mary Ellen Walton, M.D.?
