I m very interested in what a soundstage is like. Did they have the whole inside of the house built inside just as it was? Upstairs and downstairs and all?

No -- it wouldn't be like that..... just areas of a huge open structure, made to look like certain parts of the required set for any given scene.....

It shows them roaming from room to room, going up the stairs, etc??? Are the rooms side by side and when they go upstairs, they go nowhere?

Yes, on typical soundstages and sets, the stairways lead to nowhere. Haha. their might be a small platform at the top, but that's it. I'm not sure of the exact construction of how the Walton house was made though, so it might have been a larger upstairs than usual. I have seen the actual soundstage building they used for the Waltons (Stage 26) and it's HUGE! you could easily fit a real sized house in it no problem! probably even two or more! ;D RYAN-J

I certainly do remember you! I took some photos of the outside of them when we went to the Warner Bros. studios and I can post those in a little bit, you were there as well correct?? for the studio tour? I'll also see if I can find some good photos of what they look like from the inside too. I have seen what they look like on the inside as well, most are big, empty and black or white! lol. like a gigantic warehouse RYAN-J

Here's some good photos of what most typical Movie sound stages look like Some can be small and others can be much larger depending on the shots they need to film. if you hop on Google images you can see a whole slew of them on there too. This is the sign on the outside of Stage 26, you can see 'The Waltons' listed under the Television category. (This photo shows the ones at Warner Bros. and we probably saw these ones on the tour) (See all the rooms connected in this one? this is most likely how the Waltons sets looked when they were built) RYAN-J

This is fun information to read - thanks Ryan! Although I must admit that even though I went on the WB tour with the reunion group I almost preferred keeping my illusions intact versus the reality. I saw some show about Two and a Half Men and they showed the stairway in the house - once you turned the corner out of view the stairs just went right back down on the other side.
