Months ago I decided to become the keeper of Verdie's kerchief as she is my favorite on the show & in just about every episode she is wearing one.
After Dewlanna/Heather was nice enough to make me my keeper, I was watching the episode that Olivia got her perm. Olivia ends up going to Verdie to ask her what her people do to straighten hair and they mention that she wears a "turban" & Verdie gets some cloth off her clothesline to put Olivia's hair up in.
I thought, "Great it was suppose to be keeper of Verdie's turban not kerchief!" I mentioned this to Lynn Hamilton at the Waltons reunion this past September in California. It did not seem to matter to her either way, if it was called a turban or a kerchief.
Now I feel even better about it because yesterday I watched, "The Children's Carol." After Verdie is robbed & she is at the Waltons' house, Grandpa said to her that it was a good thing that she had the kerchief on her head or she could have been hurt worse. So, thanks Grandpa Walton for letting me know that kerchief is just fine to use! ;D

Did we ever see Verdie's real hair-do? Yes, in a few episodes. One right off that I can know of was when Harley went to Verdie's house (they weren't married yet) looking for his son Jodie. He told her to leave his son alone & to quit mothering him, that they would be leaving soon. Verdie was trying to get Harley to stay put somewhere, to live there & quit moving around. That Jodie needed a home. She asked him what did he want Jodie to be? A shoeshine boy!! This scene is the one they played at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles at the Waltons 40th Anniversary on 9/29/2012.

I'll have to watch for that scene. No doubt I'll remember her hair when I see it.
