Just watching The Burn Out again, and I realise that everyone, except John, seems to be wearing new clothes because their old outfits were destroyed in the fire. I couldn't help but think they, I'm sure they must be wearing them again in later episodes! In fact it seems that some of them are magically back at odd moments during the episode!

I was surprised that Jim Bob had a "good "shoe. He wore two different ones because he didn't want to go barefoot, and yet being barefoot was nothing new to them. I guess they had to make it look like they lost a lot in the fire.

I could never walk barefoot really well especially on rough dirt and rocky suirfaces like the Waltons encountered outside in the mountains. My feet would get cut or I'd be worried about glass or getting my feet cut on something sharp. Some people have tougher feet than others. I just like to protect mine. Wm Fan Sportwriter

I was always bare foot. I could run over stones, gravel with no problem. My brother-in-law calls me Fred Flintstone all the time, cause i still love being bare foot.

I think that in later episodes they go to the attic and look at things that would have been lost in the fire.

I think that in later episodes they go to the attic and look at things that would have been lost in the fire. Yes, that's a good point too! Especially as the fire seems to be burning through the roof, suggesting that the attic would be worst effected. Do they mention The Burn Out in A Decade of The Waltons? They mention most of the 'big' events in that, and they also get things from the attic in it, so it would be a strange thing to overlook. Also, back on the subject of clothes, it's odd really, at first everybody (except John) seems to have lost their clothes and are wearing strange things they've never had before. By the end of the episode though, it seems that Elizabeth, Olivia, Esther, Ben, Zebulon and John-Boy all have their old clothes back! But Jim-Bob, Erin, Jason and Mary Ellen all have new clothes!

I also still like to go bare-foot when I can. When we were kids it was nothing to go barefoot. As a teen I went everywhere barefoot! I was barefoot on my bike & had the worse wreck ever. I was standing up peddling & my chain came off.....oucch! I had a bad case of road rash on both feet & a broken toe

Mary Lou, you made me cringe reading that. I got one for you...one time I was running and I stubbed my big toe on the gravel road as I was running. When I looked down at my toe, the skin from under my toenail, and half of my toe was hanging there. I took off the biggest chunk of skin. It took some time, but it healed ok. I won't even tell you about the time I tied my dog to my bike, thinking he would give me a ride...

How you all dnt cut your feet I don't know , but some are stronger than others or less pain resistant My youngest son started walking when he was 9 months & 4 days old. Just a few days after that he & I were in the garage. He starts running out of the garage on to our gravel driveway. Did not faze him a bit!! I couldn't believe it. He is now 4 1/2 years old & he can still walk on anything barefoot, he goes barefoot 95% of the time. It is a chore getting him to wear shoes for church, going to town, etc....He starts school in August 2013 so I have to work on him keeping his shoes on! LOL!!

"Put your boots on before you get your horse out of the pasture. How many times do I have to tell you kids not to get around those horses barefoot? One of these days you will learn" (said Grandpa Shelton)

I love be barefoot. Unless, it's cold outside. I wear socks. When, I was in preschool. Got on the bus. Took of my shoes & socks off. The bus driver, tells my mom. Tell your daughter to keep her shoes & socks on.

I have posted previously that Elizabeth wore exactly the same dress on both The Yearning, The Triumph, and a couple of other episodes

I was always barefoot as a child too, except in the winter. I had tough feet, but remember stepping on a board with a nail in it once and the board stuck to my foot! I still don't like wearing shoes and only wear them when I have to go out somewhere.
