It has a rating of 3 and half stars out of 4. I probably would have given it 4.
I love the series, and Spencer's MT is alright, but this Movie is the best thing out of The Walton Universe imo.
Plus, the print quality GMC has is top notch. Just as good as my dvd.

I watched The Homecoming last night. I DVRed the 9:00 showing.I didn't like the ones who played The Baldwin Sisters.I didn't like the one who played Ike,or the one who played Sheriiff Bridges.I liked the ones who were on The Waltons much better.I didn't like the way Jim Bobs hair was,it didn't look like him. There were some other thing I didn't like. But all in all it was good.

Excellent was the Homecoming though a little different. Patricia Neal was ok but harsher than Michael Learned as Olivia. Grandpa would have been better with Will Geer obviously. Grandma Ellen Corby seemed a little tamer or wasnt shown or had quite as much spunk as in the series. And the actor who played John Walton, well that was just a cameo with his 5 minute performance returning home at the end of the movie. My favorite supporting character was Cleavon Little as Hawthorne Dooley. I loved his song about having a Lifeline and the Baldwins and then the sleigh ride through the night snow was picteresque and cool. The other supporting characters, the Baldwins, Ike, Charlie Sneed and Sherriff Bridges I liked better in the series. And finally seeing all the children so young was just precious. As I've said I'd like to see the Waltons do one more Christmas related series if they would. We'll see what happens. Happy Holidays! Wm Fan Sportwriter

I have always been timid to watch the movie as I want to keep my memories focused on what I saw growing up with the show. For all of you who love both the movie and the series..no issues?

Yes the Homecoming is a good pilot movie for the Waltons. A few different actors but the Walton kids are all there and so young wow neat to see. Anyway I've enjoyed finally seeing the Homecoming this year and it has added and not subtracted or taken away from the history or memories I know of the Waltons. Check it out sometime man. I dvred the Best Christmas that played after the Homecoming on Friday night and for some reason the Homecoming was still playing at 11:00 PM (mountain time). So now I have only half an episode of the Best Christmas. (Not a big deal, because I own the dvds.) Just saw on GMC that the Homecoming went longer: 09:00 PM The Waltons, The Homecoming: A Christmas Story Homecoming, The: A Christmas Story 11:11 PM The Waltons, The Homecoming: A Christmas Story Homecoming, The: A Christmas Story 01:22 AM The Waltons, The Homecoming: A Christmas Story Best Christmas, The Better check my dvr copy of the Homecoming and make sure I have the entire movie or I will be ticked! I have not watched the dvr copy yet, I have been watching it on the tv instead.
