One of the movies they watched was "Captains Courageous" with Spencer Tracy
It's a great movie. Tracy might be the best ever...

They mention the book and character of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, but I am not sure if they mention the movie that came out in the 30's.

'39?..... so, it would only have been mentioned in later episodes..... and, they didn't seem to bring up the Civil War much, did they ? I remember Mary Ellen talking about Claudette Colbert but can't remember if she had seen a movie she was in.....

I can't say for sure, but I have a strong feeling that The Bride of Frankenstein is mentioned in one episode... I think it's in Season 5, but I don't know specifically.

Both Gone with the Wind & The Wizard of Oz came out in 1939. I always found it fascinating that they were both directed by Victor Fleming..... Oz came out about 4 months earlier..... so I'm sure it must have "been in the can" for a while before that !!

Since they were singing As Time Goes By at John and Livy's anniversary at the gazebo, maybe that meant they had already seen Casablanca. That was they the song in Casablanca, wasn't it?

The song had been written in 1931 and was already a "hit" before the movie came out in 1942 (although the movie increased/renewed the song's popularity) -- That anniversary was prior to the movie, but they knew the song..... I'm glad they knew it !!

They mention the book and character of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, but I am not sure if they mention the movie that came out in the 30's. I just watch the full movie, this pass weekend. I like it. I finally watch it in full. Over the years, I just watch clips of it. But not the full movie. Thank you everyone.
