It's that time again. Time to honor all those who lost their lives or whose lives were dramatically changed by the events of 9/11/01. So, I am attaching a photo of my good friend Berry Berenson Perkins who was on the first flight. She was travelling from her home on Cape Cod to attend an art show by one of her sons in Los Angeles....
Dear Berry, I hope you are back with your beloved Tony and enjoying your latest journey.
With love, Jeri

Jeri, Thank you for starting this thread and sharing the photo and story of your friend. I would like to share the photo and story of a young man who was also killed on that day. I didn't know him personally, but he was from my hometown and was a graduate of Marshall University, where I also went to college. Dr. Paul Ambrose was on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon on that fateful day, Sept. 11, 2001. On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, at 7:52 a.m., Dr. Paul Ambrose, senior clinical adviser for the Office of the Surgeon General in Washington, D.C., boarded American Airlines Flight 77 bound for Los Angeles. Thirty-five minutes into his flight, the plane passed over Huntington, W.Va., Paul’s beloved hometown, when hijackers overtook the cockpit and turned the plane east toward the nation’s capital. At 9:37 a.m. the plane crashed into the western side of the Pentagon, killing all 64 people on board as well as 125 workers at the United States Department of Defense. The entire story of Dr. Ambrose can be found here: www.jackhouvouras.com/portfolio/biographies/paul-w-ambrose

It is such a bad thing that happened. I will always remember where I was, and my thought process. I was driving in my car, and I heard that a plane hit the World Trade Center. I thought maybe the pilot was drunk. I shook my head at that thought, not even thinking it could be anything else, until the second plane hit. I remember thinking, "what the heck is going on?". Then, the people on the radio talked about America being under attack, and I thought, "Oh God, please don't let this happen".
I never even thought about the people it affected until I got home, ran inside and put on the T.V. . It was horrible. I couldn't believe the images I saw was New York City. When I saw the people running and covered in the dust, and the planes hitting, and the buildings collapsing, it was then that I realized how many people were probably dead.
It was very frightening, and so so sad. To Jeri, and anyone who lost a loved one that day, I give you my condolences. Eleven years has gone by, but it does feel like yesterday.

It was so unreal. When planes were hijacked they usually wanted a ransom & unfortunately one or two people may have been murdered but after it was resolved, everyone else walked away. But things changed on 9/11. It must have been truly frightening to have been on one of those flights on 9/11....knowing that all they wanted to do was kill themselves & everyone on board. That no one would be walking away....no ransom demands. No matter what security is put in place on the ground at any event or at any airport....if bad people want to do something, they will find a way. That is what is still scary about the world we are now living in. Everytime there is an awards program (Oscars, Emmys,etc..) the Superbowl, etc...I always have in the back of my mind that we (America) can be attacked at anytime. If someone is on a suicide mission they have nothing to lose. My condolences go out to everyone who was affected by 9/11. foreverwaltons
